It's really corny
It always was
The super campy charm of the first 3 seasons hold up really well.
Seasons 4-6 are pretty solid especially if you like Willow and Spike.
Season 7 is alright, it's not great but it's passable.
If you like goofy stuff like Sabrina, SG1, Paranormal or Xena you will dig it.
I watched probably in 2014 or 2015 and really enjoyed it. I was in my early 30s at the time, so it's not something you can only enjoy if you're a youngin.
Early season buffy is distractingly beautiful
I'm not into this Hollywood trend of casting the ugliest Black folk but there should be a limit of how hot an actress should be before she is too distracting
Some of season 1-2 have some rough episodes but overall it's still an enjoyable watch with good episodes, action, and practical effects.
love buffy but it's very 90s early 2000s and it doesn't hold up well at all, similar to Xena, Hercules and sliders obviously angel/charmed as well, you can tell it's from that era...more of a nostalgic show you probably won't like it unless you watched it on TV growing up like alias, VIP, jag etc. the list goes on
Stargate has become like this for me, which is saddening because I used to like it.

In later seasons the snarky reference porn is dropped for her constantly bemoaning her life.
To be fair, her life is shit. Being a Slayer is very depressing.
I felt especially bad for her in the season where she almost lost the house and had to become a wagie.

It's impossible for me to separate it at this point from the fact that everything for the past 15 years straight has been a regurgitated post-ironic attempt at aping Whedon Writing(tm). Even hearing the original genuine article dialog of OG Buffy is just annoying to me now.
Also the first 3 seasons are a crystalized version of pre-9/11 America that's dead/was killed and is never coming back so it's very sad.
Same here. Hadn't seen it since I was a kid/teenager and I was really taken aback at how ahead of its time it was in the worst way possible
you're probably better off watching angel, unless you simply must have smg and the small town setting
It’s a fantastic show thatbgets a lot of terrible takes from the no fun allowed crowd. A classic. Also an early example of heavily serialized storytelling in a tv series after Babylon 5 showed it was possible.
The early seasons have the characters call things 'moronic' quite a few times as an insult which is funny because it makes zoomers break into a frothing rage and millennials have to apologize for liking it.
