Rock and Rule is one of those "amazing animated movies you only knew about from seeing it online/renting it at Blockbuster. Plus it's modern who are just ass slaves to Viacom now, and even then the talent of Rock and Rule is long either dead or moved on I think.
Maybe if there was a "Canadian Library of Congress" to preserve the film, or maybe enough fans gathering to ask for one? Or just fan screenings at local places?
I'm sure it is don't get me wrong, I'm just saying don't hold out for Viacom/Modern Nelvana to give enough of a shit for this film to do anything, if it isn't Nickelodeon related.
I especially hope there's just some rich guy who has an autistic dedication to animation. Perhaps Phil or Travis Knight, but they mostly like stop-motion.

It doesn't have to be heralded by some "big guy" anon. If you really wanted it to get attention, why not just get some mates, save money, buy a local theater or drive in, and just host a screening?
Maybe do it at a convention?

I'd love to go one step further and have the screening be at a theater that's located near a con, that way it can be a huge event.
It suffered from behind the scene bullshit and they fricked up the storyline. I still enjoy it for its visials and use of music. The characters arent that bad looking and the ending sequence was really cool. Its worth a watch, at least once.
Earth Wind and Fire farted out a basic but functional song that for all purposes only exists in this movie
I dunno why I latch onto that little factoid but there it is
I use to have a book on the making of the movie. A factoid I latched onto is that Debbie Harry was really interested in the production of the movie and would regularly hang-out with the animators and threw out some ideas.
If I remember correctly, putting Angel in that dress at the end of the movie was her idea. The movie was originally meant to be more adult and apparently she wasn’t happy with the studio pushing for it to be more kid-friendly.
It's an "artist's" film, as in there's lots of well drawn scenes, and not a whole lot of story to tell. I think the animators worked on Disney stuff? Would explain why it's basically just Goofy characters.
If I'm ever a millionaire I'm funding a proper remake of this movie. There is far too much kino left on the table to just let it sit. I've also considered turning into a stage musical, though that obviously does away with the animation, which is one of its greatest strengths.
It's Okay
>Captcha sawyn
the plot is a fricking mess but it's kino
I always felt like the plot was supposed to be ridiculous, it helps the movie look even more like tripping and focus more in the animation itself
So it's the kind of movie you watch while you're high? Good.
I'd say it's a low key "Thief and Cobbler (Recut)"; The plot is the last thing anyone was thinking of, and design and animation came hard first.
>design and animation came hard first.
That's how I approach board-driven media in general, since that's the whole philosophy.
When it's not either "I want to coom to this character" or "I'm super autistic, let's talk about Chicken Little!"
To be fair, the latter part was a Cinemaphile raid. Nobody actually gives a shit about Chicken Little.
>Art and Animation:
Kino Canadian
>Music:
Kino
>Characters:
Pretty good to ok
>Plot:
Yeah you're here for the animation and music, not the plot.
>Music:
>Kino
>still no rerelease

Whenever someone outside of Canada knows about something domestic, it's a HUGE deal.
I'm sure it is don't get me wrong, I'm just saying don't hold out for Viacom/Modern Nelvana to give enough of a shit for this film to do anything, if it isn't Nickelodeon related.
That said, enough fan screenings should do it.

I forgot to mention, "Modern Nelvana".
I don't care about the film, I want better releases of the soundtrack.
>I want better releases of the soundtrack
literally never ever, the recordings were destroyed in a fire sadly
Watch the Canadian version of possible.

>Nelvana
>Kid-Friendly
How ironic.
>I just discovered this film
How did you discovered it but dont know how it is?
HUGE fricking shame that we didn't get to see those fat breasts exposed even once. It would've doubled the film's popularity easily.
Cheer up, anon. Debbie did some nudes in the 80s.
Haven't seen it, but I know Bob Jaques got his start on this film.
I just gotta say fellas, I don't like Lou Reed all that much.
frick u
He could be quite a prick, but his legacy is so big.
Try watching it you inbred
I've heard the VHS cut is uncensored, while the HD version isn't.
It's a great movie but the problem was making them based off animals. If they were human characters R&R would have done much better!!!FACT!!!
Even John K agrees, though it's hard to agree with him on other things.
