It peaked in S1, but that's some of the best television ever made. S2 is not worth watching. S3 is good, but it doesn't reach the heights of S1

Season 2 only gets good half-way through it. Season 3 seems interesting at first but goes completely nowhere and disappears up it's own butt by the end of it.

  4. 2 years ago

It peaked there. 2 is decent as a Oceans 11 sort of take, but nowhere near the themes in 1. 3 is much closer with its premise, but ultimately takes a click baity resolution and doesn't deliver on what should be more interesting characters.

yes of course it's worth watching. if you liked the first season that much chances are you're really going to like season 2 and 3

S3 is a neutered version of S1. It's pointless and shouldn't have been made

They're all pretty good but since S1 is at the peak of television, the other two are obviously not as good.

They're still good. Watch them. But don't expect more of S1.

Only problem I had with S2 was the superfluous gay story. That dude's storyline could have been removed and nothing much would have changed. It meandered a bit too because of his character. Awesome OST, a shame Lera Lynn's work outside it is generic fem-country trash.

    Season Two Bullshit:

Character shot TWICE with a shotgun, once at point blank inches from his body. Next episode he's fine, killer used "bird shot", get it? Bad Guy wearing bird head! uses bird shot ho ho ho, that's supposed to mean it doesn't hurt in TV land, even though it knocked him off his feet. And of course detective was wearing a bird proof vest, and plot armor.

2 and 3 are both solid but come nowhere near the level of season 1. If suggest watching season 3 next since it tries to return to the feel of 1 and has many great moments. Season 2 is good in its own right but I'd suggest taking a decent break from season 1 first or go into it with an open mindset and not expecting anything even remotely comparable to season 1

S2 and S3 are both completely watchable and have their high points, but they don't work as a sequel to S1 in any way, you won't get "more of the same", it's essentially a different show.

      >essentially a different show
Correct, because its an anthology. The only thing that all 3 shows share is that thematically it focuses on the detectives and how the major cases shape their lives, the crimes are just good scenery

It's peaked because the collab between Pizza and Cary was lightning in a bottle. The next two seasons are good noir but not much more than that.
Cary went on to do the show Maniac on Netflix which is a much worthier followup to TDs1 but still not as good.
    It will never be topped.
