The kickstarter came out around the time when Black Panther became god's gift to black people, but not a single soul kickstarted the movie so it failed. That's why it took so long. It seems that now the movie is shot digital and has a terrible modern look which kind of defeats the whole purpose of being a blaxploitation parody

A lot of people who didn't care about the MCU bought tickets for BP out of a sense that they were helping social justice causes.
They made a trailer 5 years ago. I presumed it was either a skit like the Danny McBride 'Dundee' trailer or a lock up to try to draw in funding.

He was co-writer or BD too. His presence is sorely missed, Johnny Black feels more like a mediocre comedic western than a masterful parody

Needed to be R-rated instead of a watered down PG-13 and it desperately needed an editor. It's almost 2 and a half hours long and plays itself completely straight with no jokes for huge chunks of it. Also is weirdly religious.
