I just started watching this and I am confused.

I just started watching this and I am confused. These japanese vampire stories are based on the vampire lore that include vampires are evil and people who fight against them use the power of god to defeat them. This is why they are hurt by crosses and in the games holy water is a weapon. Why is the church portrayed as malevolent and Richter would say he hates them? This doesn't make sense at all. Besides the cyclops, it's all priests Richter is brutally killing. What is going on here? People said this was a perfect adaptation?

vampires in this adaptation are repelled by crosses because their superior vampiric vision is easily confused by simple geometric shapes. yes really.

He hates certain parts of the church that were corrupt. He calls out some of the priests for being fake and During a fight he asks for a priest that was properly ordained to bless a bucket of water and turn it into holy water. All the hate the church gets is real stuff they had done in history.

I think he just hated corrupt parts of the Catholic Church, which wasn't exactly an uncommon sentiment at the time anyway. As far as Vampire lore goes none of the protagonists of Dracula were members of the church, nor did they really use the power of God. A mixture of science and superstition, and Dracula didn't like the cross but at the end of the day they just killed Dracula by cutting off his head while he was in his coffin.
    >People said this was a perfect adaptation?
lmao who said this? show is okay for some episodes but turns into total shit especially in Season 3.

You can't adapt a computer game to a visual medium which takes out the gameplay and challenge, changes the art style, doesn't include any of the music etc, and then call it a perfect adaptation.

Because it’s cool and trendy and safe to shit on Christians for content. Muslims and israelites however are off limits.

The show habitually shits on white people and christianity and included graphic gay sex. Steer clear

well christianity isn't white. it's just reverse psychology to get people to be christian or atheist.
