Most vehicles have a small plastic tab with a loop at the end inside the trunk to escape if trapped inside. But in this specific case, the trunk was already open with the latch disengaged by the time the camera angle shows it.

Personally I'm very salty about it because I went into it with the wrong expectations.
When I saw the casting, I thought this would be an action show about a lone wolf cop that goes around and fights against an entire mafia on his own, with lots of fight scenes (ala The Marine movies).
I don't see how people get the impression that Reacher himself is this "badass strong guy" when he barely gets any action. Whenever he DOES fight someone he either gets help from his friends or it's a against a bunch of untrained skinny spics.
