Not in the last 10 years or so. Straight-up tokenism is celebrated as "representation"
They also now celebrate when one type of diversity is swapped out for a more progressive diversity. Similarly they really love when characters who break gender norms are turned into girls or transmen even though that's less progressive. Like Cullen Rowe being trans was widely accepted and loved by progressives as an "improvement" when he was already gay and bullied for his interest in girl stuff.
Jimmy being black in Supergirl also sort of comes to mind. He went from a meek nerd that plays sidekick to Superman and Loid (A woman who has non-sexual power over him) to a stereotypical TV black guy and they ate that shit up.
