It's one of the reasons why I felt like it wasn't worth putting up my, admittedly very amateurish, projects I made as a kid. People were bandwagoning, nepotistic frickheads back then just as much as they are bandwagoning nepotistic frickheads now, so unless you turned heads right out of the gate, you weren't going anywhere worthwhile, and sure as hell nobody was going to help you.
Looking back on it, it was probably for the best, animation would have been a dead end for me, looking at how things have turned out.
