I know making fun of Dobson himself is a standard on Cinemaphile, but has anyone actually read Alex Ze Pirate or Formera? Are they really that bad? Are any of the comics he made worth looking at? Even ironically?

>men are dumb
>men don't bond easily
>men smell bad
>men are ugly
Yes..... less sexist.
They are an eyesore and the jokes never land.
Is this comic made by animated James the black guy with the fart fetish??
Dobson is bad, but Cinemaphile goes harder on him than most artists.
Also, if you look at his progression, there was a point a decade ago when his work was looking like it was getting better, but then he simplified the style, and stopped pushing himself.
Cinemaphile's obsession with this guy is more overdone than OneyPlays obsession with Linkara, like he hasn't been active for like ten years and there are billions of worse artists and better lolcows.
This page is pretty bad. It's doesn't even seem like an honest attempt at humor, more like one of Dobson's attempts to gain sympathy by conforming.
Imagine being hurt by this.
Imagine going to bat for Dobson lmao
They are not really jokes or a narrative. they really come off as a vehicle for Dobson to rant about something that pissed him off that day. Generally he was mad at something or someone, and then made a comic full of strawmen so he can vent about it.
One really has to be a friendless loser who has never as much as held a conversation with a woman before to ever want to believe the fantasy that women get along better with each other than guys do.
I cannot think of any way someone can come to that conclusion at all unless they have never actually met a woman before.
Yeah, ship. I can totally tell they're meant to be on a ship. The burgundy rectangle and the soft blue-white gradient really set the scene.
I can't even tell if the joke is that these "modest, mature and not sexist" women are all immaturely bragging about how much better than men they are, or if that just went over Dobson's head.
Though I think it's the latter.
The face of the guy on the left and the fact that he left brush teeth for last instead of any of those makes me think it’s definitely the latter.
Dobson was so close to making one funny joke and he didn’t even realize.
>aren’t sexist
Is that meant to be the punchline here?
Yes. The punchline of his entire character is that they treat him how you would expect an unfrickable woman to be treated on an all male pirate ship.
>We don't smell bad
>Take showers regularly
>Aren't sexist pigs
>More mature
>Modest
>Brush teeth
Pirates were the complete opposite of this, they were a a band of shit smelling, disease ridden, alcoholic, starved hobos that brutalised people for money, not even a lot of money most of the time
I read Alex ze Pirate, from the way he talked about it I thought it would be a comedy adventure comic but it read more like a newspaper strip, with cheap gags and the whole pirate setting being a vague backdrop. It felt like the characters were tools to tell jokes (like a newspaper comic) and I couldn't get a sense for the world at all.
He based his whole life around Nintendo power what do you expect?
Why do they have so many phones?
They stole them from a phone ship
dudes delirious.
women are bad luck on a sail boat.
Was there a time when Dobson wasn't simping and just trying to make good comics?
Well, he kinda did the opposite of simping when he made a comic making light of his israeli girlfriend's holiday when she tried to include him in family celebrations, but I don't think that's what you were looking for, so no.
Did he make a comic about that or just a mopey blog post?
I have to ask: why would this guy stay on that crew?
There’s a story arc where he leaves and since nothing gets done without him they all track him down and beg him to come back. Also he’s in love with Alex.
>a group of women can't get anything done without a man
That doesn't sound very woke, Dobson.
It isn’t even an all-female crew, one of the women there isn’t part of it, and there are 2 other male crewmates.
What's the joke here? Women are presumptuous?
It's Dobson, so the "joke" is just that the answer was obvious.
You ever think Son of Dob asked himself why 99.9999999999999999% of sailors were men?
