It's $5 per pose. Depending on how fast you can work, that can be a lot or a little. An animator who can draw 4 poses an hour is earning more than an EMT. However, just drawing one pose an hour (or less) would be well under the federal minimum wage level.

It's not a good pay grade. However, if you're a passionate Sonic fan who was going to make shit on your own time for free regardless, it's a nice cherry on top. Unless the person in charge is riding you like this is an actual job and not a fun basically-volunteer project where you can make your own hours and work on a loose deadline.
This type of casting call is specifically for fan artists who do free project shit all the time for fun and this is just a way for them to get a few lunches out of it for a change. It's not meant for real artists trying to make a living and looking for a job. I mean, unless you're like, a really talented 16-year old, then it would be a nice starter income.
Pay rate is typically commensurate with respect. You'd think that if they were paying you so little they'd be grateful you'd be willing to work on their shit, but my experience is that the people who pay the least are also typically the shittiest to work with. There will be endless edit requests, a lot of nitpicking, and nickel and diming. The attitude tends to be "I'm paying you so you have to take this".
The people who pay better also tend to be more respectful. They hire you because they want YOU and trust you to do your job.
Animators today are to entitled to work for 5 bucks an hour. since the regular wage is 5x that in a perfectional studio and 3x that in a independent studio. Hell you'd get payed more on Patreon.
I'm ignorant as to what this specifically means. Does the pose imply fully cleaned and colored drawing or does pose mean a rough sketch to get the feel of the pose (which ostensibly would be handed off to someone else for cleaning/color)?
If the former, $5 sounds very low to me. If rough sketch like a storyboard is what they mean, $5 might be pretty good. Not that I would know. I am not an artist.

If you're animating on twos at 24fps you'd be making 60$ per second of animation with 12 drawing poses. If you spent a week animating a full minute of animation, that's 300$ for 720 poses. (If you're considering animating for a sonic fan project and asking about rates, you won't be able to do more than a minute a week.)
Chances are you won't actually draw that mane poses and end up having holds and stills, so you're likelier to make something like 150$ a week
