I like El Topo and the Holy Mountain. Surprised to find out this avant-garde filmmaker is also a comic book writer. Are his comics any good?

I thinj he worked on Incal? And yea its neat
El Hideo Kojima de los comicos...
What’s this supposed to mean?
I dunno but its not a good thing
It's a few layers deep.
>Hispanic DBZ posting
Used to parody latino DBZ powerlevel discussions, by exaggerating the particular properties of some individual
>kojimaposting
Hideo Kojima is a polarizing figure in video games because he's legitimately brilliant, legitimately batshit insane, and somehow both an auteur with a massive ego and just some random goofy nerd. Some of his work is better than others, but because of how his career evolved the public perception of him has advanced beyond the actual man. For Cinemaphile, you'd probably only know him as the (former) director of the Metal Gear games.
>La Creatividad
This was a spanish-language magazine cover featuring Hideo Kojima. The full translation was "The Creativity of Hideo Kojima" but because of the layout it looked like the magazine was calling Kojima himself Creativity. That looped back into Hispanic DBZposting.
So what anon is saying, basically, is that "Jodorowsky is the comic equivalent of Hideo Kojima" which entails some level of both legitimate one-in-a-lifeline talent and also someone who is legitimately overrated and not quite as clever as their self-mythology suggests. It depends on how much irony is inherent in his Hispanic DBZposting. Having explained all this, I understand now why normies find these conversations impenetrable.
Some of the best ever
Like the white lama
His style works better in comics than film.
The paneling can be hard to read at times, and the stories aren't always well paced, but that was already true of his films.
But Metabarons are definitely better than El Topo, for example.
Sure, they have great art.
No. He's better at movies.
His artists carry his comics HARD.
>His artists carry his comics
I thought he illustrated himself.
some of them are actually pretty good, you should totally check them out.
My dream is to make something as vibrant and cool as Incal but with jester girls with huge boobs
>vibrant and cool as Incal but with jester girls with huge boobs
This is a noble goal.
Frick you. People that like jesters are always huge dweebs. Jesters are meant to be unlikable and obnoxious little weirdos so if you empathize with or find them amusing chances are you are also unlikeable obnoxious little weirdo.
Personally I think The Metabarons is one of the best space operas out there, but The Incal is good too. The Incal is generally better regarded.
The Technopriests isn't as good as either, but it has its moments.
Now that we've filtered the men-children and nerds. [lease drop some great comic recommendations for a newbie that's looking to get into it. Anything as long as it's artsy, cool or well written.
Holy Mountain looks like an animated film and The Incal makes me sad that Dune never got made
He did a sequel to El Topo in the comics. I think it sort of retcons a segment in the movie but still worth looking at.
They're okay.
His comics are super preachy and very 60's inspired if that makes any sense.
If you can get into or past that, yeah they're pretty good.
His comics are great.
>The Metabarons
>The Borgias
>Before the Incal
>Diosamante (unfinished, unfortunately)
>Son of the Gun
>Technopriests
>Madwoman of the Sacred Heart
