    >why?
Because it'd be made in the current year.

Perfect, I was thinking of making a Batman Beyond thread. Are any of the Batman Beyond comics worth reading?

I hated it as a kid but absolutely loved it as an adult, I wish they rebooted it in adult swim so it could have gore and sex, would be so fitting in the "dystopian future" atmosphere

And here comes the explanation, OP.

Because any "future tech" would be instantly dated. And building Blade Runner 2048 on a Batman movie budget isn't going to work, and would require too much World Building.

Batman Beyond doesn't have any stand-out villains.

People would compare it unfavorably to Spider-Man Homecoming (you fricking would yourself).

It wouldn't just be a 1:1 adaption of the show, no Batman movie is a 1:1 adaption of any one comic, run, episode, or cereal box.

You'd complain for every thing that was like the show AND exactly as vociferously complain about everything that wasn't.

Nobody could be cast to play Terry.

Terry has a black friend who is a girl, wothshirt, colored hair. You'd pass your pants, farther, shit and cum, from anger.

      > Batman Beyond doesn't have any stand-out villains.

Are you kidding, the villains where great. Blight, Inque, Curare, Shriek, his version of the Royal Flush gang is the only good one and Mad Stan for less serious episodes.

And the thing anyone remembers is when he fought the Joker. Or interacted with Mr. Freeze.

Inque is coom-bait, Blight is a non-entity, Shriek is boring. Royal Flush Gang is okay but you run the risk of "Ever notice how Iron-Man only ever fights counter-Iron-Men?"

Most of BatBeyond's more interesting episodes, the villains ate One-Offs that fricking die outright. No longhostories to draw from there.

It would just be Iron Batman. There are ZERO 3d renders of Terry's suit that look good. Not one. It just doesn't work outside of 2d.

      >Iron Batman
what's wrong with it? I kinda like it

The CGI alone to make a villain like Inque look could would blow the budget sky-high.

It only really works in the neo-noir/dark deco style of the show itself because of the way it's shaded, how shadows and light play with the design, and the very specific details like the face being fully expressive and it being completely seamless

        Anonymous

That’s kinda cool when you think about it. Frick adaptations; this story and characters were designed specifically for *this* medium.

I still think a Ruiner type, full face screen mask could work
The cartoon expressiveness would still work and you could build onto it, have it start very simple and static when Terry inherits it from Bruce, Terry modifies it to be more expressive, Max takes it even further, and so on
The suit already has a stealth feature that could be justified further with the screen material, and you could do other, new effects
Would also work for Spellbinder's suit as well, since he's all about manipulating your senses

It'd work for a fullbody Spellbinder suit but the Beyond Batsuit has face contours and an actual opening mouth, the screen thing would probably just end up looking kinda weird

          Anonymous

It could be more form fitting than a full helmet, like a morph suit, for the proper contours
I'd be fine with losing the mouth since I always found it a bit weird but that's just me, I suspect the mouth would be weird in anything other than the original style

It invariably ends up being too reflective, on top of worthless design flourishes because people don't know how to leave well enough alone. I wonder what it would look like in a dark, nonreflective material. Maybe not quite vantablack, because it does have shading, but something like that. I think it might be able to work, as long as the rest of the adaptation is done so that it fits.

i get the feeling that a take done today wouldn't get the leeway to do what they want without exec interference like the original did. it would suffer like all the recent dc attempts from too many "notes" that become a hot mess.

for those wondering what I'm talking about, the original writers were basically given a carte blanche outside the two notes
    1. it's a new kid batman
    2. new things to make toys of to sell
so they got to basically go wild

    >Max suddenly jumps up massively in competence, the episodes where she acts like a moron or gets caught no longer exist
    >Terry is depicted as more inept and prone to getting his ass kicked than before
    >second Batgirl (if not Max then an OC donut steel) arrives and does Terry's job better than him
    >at least ONE episode discussing LGBT politics of the future that talks down to the audience
    >Damian and Jon Kent both exist except we never see their dynamic so Damian remains a shit character
    >art style and animation are complete dogshit because it's cheaper

Everyone being moronic now aside, Conroy is dead and he was the tent pole that held the show up.

Terry would be Teri, a lesbian PoC
It would go on and on about how Bruce, as a straight, white man with wealth, failed Gotham umpteen different ways and should have done more for the community.
Teri wouldn't need any training from Bruce.
Bruce would be amazed by how brave and competent Teri is.
Teri would want to save Dana from being in relationships with toxic straight white men
Episodes about LGBT utopia (women have kids with women being widespread)
Characters would tell Teri that she's more competent than Bruce ever was and how it's important than Batman is a PoC (of course Teri's not Batwoman, she's taking back the name)
Inque apologist episodes where she's evil because of the men in her life.
    Ace would be pitbull
