I liked it a lot.
Was really worried during the first 5 or 10 minutes when they were giving Buzz a frustrating amount of comic relief lines, and aggressively referencing Toy Story dialog, but that all died down quickly and it found it's footing. In that regard, I'm really really happy they allowed Buzz to be taken seriously as a character throughout.
The side characters were predictably the worst part, but not in a hard to watch way, just in a way that makes you wonder how they could possibly make a sequel with the side characters so one note and forgettable. Besides the black girl, who was actually solid and clearly the one given focus.
Me and the gf actually had a serious discussion of whether or not they actually gave a name to the clumsy guy and old lady. We still can't remember. Surprisingly the robot cat ended up being the most fun to watch character in the whole movie, which came as a shock since it was so clearly supposed to be the eye-roll comedy release
I feel like it has strong sequel potential and multiple times during the movie it's clearly setting something up. Specifically the reveal that Zurg technically isn't the real Zurg. I'd watch more.

Glad to hear you liked it overall, anon. I've mostly heard disappointed reviews these last couple days, with only Sox and the time travel montage as a highlight, but your take has me interested in possibly checking out the film for myself.
I walked out on it at the final act. Shit was stupid and formulaic.
Duality of man
Look at when they were posted. Literally samegay
No you didn't lmao
I walked in on it at the first act. Shit was clever and groundbreaking.
To Infinity and ur mom
Buzz fricked his mom and that's why he's his own father.
I liked it too. I can’t stop thinking about how awesome the first test flight was. I want to see it again just for that.
I saw it today, and found it insulting.
During the entire film Buzz is emasculated as a failure, and he says so himself, how his best friend who happens to be a black lesbian, and who happens to also be a higher rank than him is better in every way. Also he was such a frick up that she was the reason he made it thru his training as a space ranger.
It's also not just a single scene of two lesbians kissing. The media is lying about that and trying to downplay it. So, like every time Buzz tests this hyper-drive system in the movie, he goes 4 years into the future, and each time he catches up with his black lesbian friend, and every time she announces again, and again that she's a lesbian. Did I forget to tell you she's a lesbian? Because the movie sure won't! The first time she announces how she got a ring and is going to marry her wife, and her and Buzz have a whole conversation about it. Next time she's having a baby, and then she has a kid, and it keeps going. And the movie never lets you forget about it and write it off as a small scene. They keep bringing up how she's a lesbian, even when Buzz meets her grand-daughter in the future, and she too starts bringing up how she had multiple grandmothers.
Oh! And it becomes a major plot-point to where she's Buzz's Ellie from the movie "UP," where Buzz is presented with the chance to save everyone after he stranded them and marooned on a barren planet, but it would mean changing time. And so doing would prevent his lesbian friend from getting gay married, and Buzz can't stand the idea of undoing the marriage, so he strands everyone. During this scene he even looks at a photo of his black lesbian friend too, to emphasize the point. In fact the whole reason Buzz and Zurg are fighting is, because they both want to help this black lesbian, and can't agree on the best way to do so.
Also at the end of the movie there's a cringy scene where he salutes the statue of the black lesbian.
Critisisms focused on race and sexuality feel insecure
Except when a feminist does it.
Disney is run by insecure people who don't watch movies unless they have a character who is just like them.
Frick your feelings, queer.
>Bad thing isnt bad because I say so, your bad for pointing out a bad thing.
>pointing out a bad thing.
That's not a bad thing
Why does this woman have Gundam legs and Zaku arms?
This is getting so fricking sad anon
>Also at the end of the movie there's a cringy scene where he salutes the statue of the black lesbian.
White bros ... It's fricking over.... We fricking lost.
Well, given how horribly it flopped, seems whites won
Anon. He solutes the black lesbian....... We can't come back from this ...
Frick...... Frick....
This movie already bombed and ~~*writers*~~ are already blaming it on everything but black and gay worship
I normally don't browse Cinemaphile. Does everybody really act like this?
Run while you still can.
The people who arrived during the 2016 election do
You probably won't like it here.
You are literally a snowflake
Only people who where called snowflakes back in 2015 still call people snowflake.
I don't care, you are a snowflake
>First black character in a pixar motion picture
>Carries a gun
Wow disney. Just wow
Are you seriously trying to force a pasta? This generation of anon is irredeemably cancer
I legit saw it today(yesterday now) and just replied the same reply to each thread. There's no conspiracy behind it anon. That's legit the entire movie. I revealed the entire plot.
Get therapy anon
I'm not gay, anon
For your schizophrenia
Tourists
You got here in 2016.
I understand the appeal of lying to make people think the movie is worse than it actually is. It's a tried and true tactic from /tv-pol/
What I don't understand is why you would do it in a thread full of people that obviously already watched the movie
>close caption and sign language moron
>in a zoom conference
Peak clown world
the real clown world would be one where the hearing impaired are excluded from society
When you’’re deaf your eyesight doubles in strength to compensate. The average deafie can see 6.2 miles as a result but do they use that to improve the world? NO. They exclusively use it to spy on people in the shower and shoot down birds with hyper focused streams of tears. The deaf are all weirdo bird hating perverts and I for one am tired of pretending we had to just accept them in polite society.
Frick off shill you have no power here
I wish Disney/Pixar didn’t double down on “this is the exact movie Andy watched in the 90s”. Everything about it feels so obviously written to be a modern “grounded” reboot of an older film made to tie in on millennial nostalgia. And that’s both in and out of universe. I know Pixar says that the cartoon isn’t canon, but it makes more sense that there was a cheesy bombastic late 80s/early 90s Buzz Lightyear movie that somehow got an animated series, and also toy line, and that this Lightyear that we watched is a modern franchise reboot. Like you know 32 year old Andy is b***hing on his version of Cinemaphile about what changed.
>Post credit scene of Andy with his sister/girlfriend/friend/wife/ whatever
>They excitedly ask Andy what they thought of the Lightyear reboot
>He gives a smile assuring them that it was as "Great" as he hoped
>Their friend leaves Andy alone for a moment
>A look of disappointment slowly creeps onto Andy's face.
>Que second credit set.
I agree. I wish they just let the movie like, exist and reboot buzz as it's own thing than needlessly remind the viewer DONT FORGET THIS IS A TOYSTORY SPINOFF. The entire opening act is full of a few throwaway lines and references to dialog from the original movie that do nothing but distract.
>“this is the exact movie Andy watched in the 90s”.
>Didn't texture the creatures in the movie to look like high to mid-tier 90s CG.
The cat was the only good thing in the movie. It did the funny
I genuinely did not expect to like the cat as much as I did. He was a good kitty.
it sucked, Black person
I like it too, but I couldn't stand Taika Wahitti's character, all he did was frick things up
Really hope the inevitable sequel or tv show or whatever give Buzz a different supporting cast. I didn't like him or the old lady at all
Cinemaphile was fun before Trump.
Looks like yet another soulless Disney cash grab.

>tfw no reallistic gitty lightyear with kino space scenes
>you live in worst timeline where you get le quirkly cat robot sidekick and black lesbos.
>but that all died down quickly and it found it's footing
That's interesting because one of the more common criticisms I've heard (aside from screeching at muh sjws) is that the first 10 minutes or so were fun and hype, and then it gets boring. I haven't seen it yet because Pixar movies have a long track record of failing to impress me. Should I bother watching it?
>writing walls of text analyzing a shit kid's movie that flopped
