The Scifi Dune and Children of Dune series is probably the most book accurate of what has been made to date. The casting and acting are both good. The effects are not good and a lot of people cannot stand it because of that. It looks to me like they filmed a stage play (They do a lot of "effects" with lighting like you would see in a stage play/). I think they are worth watching and I liked them enough to buy the DVDs.

I haven't read the books but it felt like a lot was cut by the pacing of the film, I would rather it was slower and longer / cut into other films
