It's a pretty cool design, hoping that the animation manages to live up to it.
Doesn't impress me. All this guy's designs look the same.
It's not designed by who you think it is
All your kids look the same too
My spermatozoa are two-headed, two-tailed and unique!
i'm not sure about it for the time being, withholding opinion till I see it animated. when it was revealed in standing pose I didn't have any strong feelings about it at all, but I think it looks much better in action poses plus the red lights are neat.
still, i'm hoping whatever the mid-show upgrade will be is going to have a bit more meat
The basic shape reminds me of something out of Armored Core.
It seems plain but I do like little ways it shakes up basic Gundam design flourishes. It’s streamlined trim frame with heavy use of triangles is nice. It is too early to tell though but I am interested to see it in action
>The basic shape reminds me of something from Armored Core
It does make me think of a mix of Soluh from AC4/A and the cover AC from 2…
The Aerial is designed by JNTHED, best known for Metal Gear Acid and Boktai as his first time working on a mecha show, but ironically enough there IS an Armored Core designer on the staff, namely Wataru Inata who designed for AC 4 and For Answer. He designed the Gundam Pharact, which as you can see has that distinctively AC shape.
WAIT A SECOND!?
IT'S THE BOKTAI GUY?
it seems like the sun really did rise tomorrow.
>Wataru Inata who designed for AC 4 and For Answer. He designed the Gundam Pharact
ah, no wonder it's my favourite of the designs from this show so far
I'm not sold on most of the designs so far, but this thing is so slick
the aerial's growing on me, but the pharact was the only gundam I wanted since day one. beguir-beu and michaelis being not too far behind
gundam bows to orbital frame superiority
Still waiting for the hg mg and rgs of it
the rg is going to go hard I can just feel it
The shield's gimmick is just funnels. Lame.
Shield becomes wearable armor as well.
Shield? More like shoe,
>Shield is a shoe
>Pilot is a hoe
This is better, the funnel gimmick feels forced when you have parts that doesn't seem designed to work as funnels or whatever they are going to call it in the anime. Seems like some parts combine with the weapons too.
Oh, that explains these small wings it has on the back in this scene from the PV. I was wondering about it.
So will it get new upgrade shields, that give it a different armoured up look
Maybe the gimmick for Aerial will be different bit armors that transforms into weapons and other stuff.
Backpacks, swords, cannons.
>The shield's gimmick is just funnels. Lame.
>Shield becomes wearable armor as well.
I just had a revelation...
We had transformable mecha shows for a long time now, decades. And in most of these, they transform without any real decent propulsion for most of the component parts. And of course Tomino had to introduce transformation gimmicks as it was in vogue at the time. But never stop complaining that it is difficult and/or dangerous to transform in combat.
Could we not consider Arial's funnels/shield/armour as just the extension of "transformation weapons"?
Except instead of needing a 30 second transformation sequence with theme music, the Aerial just has the parts transforming INSTANTLY, at will, when ever it wants. It might not be like those liquid-metal nanomachine CGI weapons that just looks like T-1000, but the concept is certainly there. That you have the gundam as the mobile suit but nearly everything else is made up of small machines that combine into bigger machines. Even the beam rifle is just a part of the kit.
It is likely based on the modular self assemble block robots that universities are showing off, but with no current applications.
They even showed it off in the Plamo.
So it’s not scissors but little wearable accessories? That’s dumb, but also very cute.
They have I-Fields.
>So it’s not scissors but little wearable accessories? That’s dumb, but also very cute.
It just works the same way it did for Turn-X Gundam.
How is the female pilot less frickable than the Gundam?
Wait for the time skip
She looks incredibly autistic. Which, you know, means she looks like a typical Gundam protagonist.
oh god those eyebrows I only noticed them now
Who's the character designer anyway?
I like her and her bff but everyone else looks stupid honestly, it's quite a contrast with the stellar mecha design work.
Pretty boy and long haired Claude look fine. Only the guy with the pink bangs is egregious.
>oh god those eyebrows I only noticed them now
It's an imitation of the fake "painted" eyebrows that was once fashionable in Japanese Court ladies, probably a hint that she is high-born.
Same. Big fan of that shade of blue in particular.
The bit/funnel thing was about what I expected it to do. I imagine it will get a couple more shield units throughout the show. The design doesn't really blow me away because it doesn't do that much to set it apart from other protagonist Gundams except for the psycoframe lights, but it's solid enough.
Subs for prologue when?
is this mercury?
also, the suit on the left is new and we haven't seen any accompanying line art or model kit to go with it
Seems like a an upgrade of the Prologue grunt.
No wonder it's rifle looked like core gundam one, it's also modular. Any bets how many "packs" aerial will get?
I hope not as many as the G-Self got backpacks. Some of them were almost useless and were only used in an episode, so they clearly were only there to sell toys.
That's Miorine's reflection, not Suletta. I wonder if the first episode will have a sequence of Suletta saving Miorine from an accident/terrorists/kidnappers. And then at the end they will reveal it was all part of a plan to earn the school's trust.
Honestly the more people are saying this is going to be Suletta going on a murder spree the better.
Actually, would this make her a char clone?
>killed by their own faction
>disguises themself
>fights to win, but also to kill all responsible
Char didn't immediately go on a killing spree; he earned his targets trust until even Kycilia trusted him by the time he blew up her head.
She'll be befriending them alright.
Then, during a school-related event with all the corporate bigwigs gathered, she'll give them a light show they'll never forget with her family's heirloom Gundam.
>"happy birthday to you...."
>AU with a female lead
>she's a caramel redhead with massive eyebrows and also Char
It's like they're making this for me, specifically.
Who's going to support the Gundam's operation and repairs without keeping her on a short leash?
They won't recognize Lfrith and Aerial are identical?
Guess I need to watch the prologue with better subs. Is it out yet?
>how long until we get more in universe references?
>Who's going to support the Gundam's operation and repairs without keeping her on a short leash?
One assumes that even though her family was murdered, her family fortune was left intact and safely stashed away. So she could just Batman her way into revenge.
Another Garma?
Still better than McGliss vs Garma though.
Wait, so why are Studio 1 working on this again? I thought they were the dedicated UC team? Hathaway Part 2 doko
I think Studio 3 is working on the SEED movie
I don't see the Hathaway trilogy taking more than 5-6 years total.
I remember them posting that they completed the script some time ago though and they called it "Son of Bright" and then that they took a trip to Australia to become familiar with it.
But that should be done by now, so surely they've started animating it right? I feel like it should be out by at least 2023.
No, because the main character animator guy is working on Initial D.
Mercury
The trip to Australia hasn't happened yet.
I'll probably buy the HG kit whenever I can. I love this design
Would look 100 times better without the Gundam colors
I bet the girl (tm) of the next Build series will use a Pink-colored Aerial custom.
The Lfrith colors are so good man, I hope the midseason upgrade goes back to something unique like those.
>doan's island was subbed in a day
>still no subs or torrent for prologue
what the frick
nips are laughing at us
>>doan's island was subbed in a day
are you moronic?
maybe you missed the COMPLETE lack of scanlations outside of the ~~*Zion*~~ic cabal but practically no one cares about Gundam on this side of the planet

Doan's Island's BD had official subs.
It's so strange to see a design like this in a modern Gundam series.
It looks like it would belong in the OYW.
not at all
I see it in the hugely proportioned hands and simple broad geometry that is reminiscent of some OYW stuff.
The thighs and forearms and that shoulder, it gets a bit complicated below the knees though.
>it gets a bit complicated below the knees though.
My theory is that since it is only fully armoured on one side, they had to make the feet smaller to make them more nimble in order to turn fast enough. And that they probably need to be in a kneeling position in a firefight as the feet just aren't as armoured as your example.
it looks like a Gundam Build thing trying to do a Commander Genoace out of a Ball and a bunch of random parts
I like this lil guy, he has "expendable" written all over him. I bet his armor is made out of explodium
t-thank you bandai... just a little droplet of monoeye like this is enough for me...
Scopedog looking motherfricker
I.. i like it. I have a weak spot for poverty mecha.
>I bet his armor is made out of explodium
kek
I really like the gigantic hands. At least gigantic compared to other MS in the same show.
It shows it as worker's hands, designed to be tough and take punishment. Compare to standard Gundam hands that really can't do anything but hold a rifle or beam saber.
The kneepads have a "bare minimum function" look to them. They needed something to protect the knees, but unlike hero units that have full kneepad armour extensions, these guys just have metal pipes bent into shape.
What is even the metal pipe over the head meant to do? Cheap head protection?
The right shoulder piping is likely the same purpose as those on the knees; they could only afford to give this MS ONE pauldron, so it going on the left arm as a shield of sorts (Basically Japanese Samurai style) but they can't afford to do it with both arms.
>I like this lil guy, he has "expendable" written all over him. I bet his armor is made out of explodium
One big deal is that you can tell he is asymmetrical because the manufacturers were forced to keep the cost down. So in theory he could have looked like a Leo from Gundam Wing. But instead they decide to only armour the left side of him. They basically told the soldier "Keep your left side to the enemy at all times, and don't even think about turning around or you would die."
But then compare such warmachine of the common man, with THIS
monster.
The Aerial is basically made up of solid gold to the eyes of the average soldier. Like A full set of armour in early medieval times before gunpowder. I am sure the female Char has good reasons to avenge her family, but this is basically a war between aristocrats. The common man is just fodder for target practice against such wealthy toys.
ScopeGM sniper
I don't think that design belongs in the One Year War at all. It's a mix of Zeon's rounded armor with a monoeye and Federation style squared armor, which is more of a mark of the Gryps era in Zeta Gundam and not the One Year War.
The body is definitely OYW-ish if you count for spin offs. You could probably slap on a GM Sniper head, paint it white and blue, and call it a new white dingo custom.
The head is where it goes off the rails since it looks more like a zaku head with a GM visor.
Looks cool
