I love this show so much
Wish more people watched it. Season 2 is almost done filming
Bravo to Josh Brolin, you can tell this shits a passion project because without him it wouldn’t exist. Also Imogen Poots best performance. Rare for a young woman to play a cult leader villain

My favorite character is the deputy sherrif, she is played by Sarah Gadon's sister-in-law's sister.
The Gadonbot is becoming more advanced.
It's a good show. The rodeo scene in the last episode was super cathartic. It will be interesting to see where the story goes but it looks like there will be some time travel bullshit leading to a full reset of the first season which wouldn't be super satisfying.
I don’t think anything can get reset, not sure what gave you that impression.
qrd?
Just watch the trailer and see if you’re intrigued
>Big ass hole shows up on a struggling ranching family's ranch
>mysterious hippie girl shows up and pays them to camp on the ranch
>rancher's kids get into a fight with rival rancher's kids with disastrous consequences
>rancher ends up falling into the big ass mystery hole
>conflict ensues
the fact that the hole has been shown to facilitate time travel, and that the guy whose wife disappeared jumped into the hole to give himself a chance to find her, and at the end the time traveling Josh Brolin says he knows how to fix things
So far there’s nothing that suggests you can undo things that already happened. Seems like if you travel back into the past and change things you can’t undo that as it was always meant to happen. The hole probably won’t let you go back if you try to change something thats meant to happen
Seems like Amy’s mom
>used the hole to go to the past or future
>came back to pick up Amy (Possibly on Amy’s one orders)
>Amy is taken to the past in order to grow up into autumn and seemingly gain control of that mining firm
>we see autumn looking like a cult leader 2 years in the future with the hole now surrounded by a giant
Interesting how when Amy draws her idea of “heaven” as a kid she has everyone dressed in Yellow, and in the future she has her and all her followers dressed in yellow
I think she might have turned Royal into some messiah like figure and her “predictions” of when he’d arrive in the future (and thus seemingly appear to be resurrected since he died in between) is one of her planned ways to propagate her cult
It's not a cult thing, it's an uniform. Also, I think her father is the owner of the mining company.
>not a cult thing
She literally says she’s in a cult to royal
Also wearing necklaces of magic soil hardly seems like a uniform. Plus half the people in that group just have random yellow clothes. Not a uniform
>She literally says she’s in a cult to royal
I don't remember this scene.
>Also wearing necklaces of magic soil hardly seems like a uniform.
She probably knows how to use he magic soil to travel or to see the future/past.
>Plus half the people in that group just have random yellow clothes. Not a uniform
Because they all work for the mining company.
>I don't remember this scene.
When royal asks her a ton of questions after he gets back from her pushing him in the hole.
Two I remember is
>have you ever been in a cult?
>yes
>what’s the colour yellow mean?
>power
And ask yourself... why would a Royal ask these questions, immediately after seeing this?
>She probably knows how to use he magic soil to travel or to see the future/past.
It does way more than that.
>rival rancher played by Will Patton has a massive stroke and is on deaths door, at best he lives as a vegetable
>Autumn gives Pattons son Billy some of the magic soil
>he feeds it to his vegetable father
>in the scene 2 years in the future, if you look around you can see Will Patton is standing up with everyone else. He was healed by the soil
No wonder they’re mining the shit out of it. Seems like a miracle element.
Problem is I think it’s destabilising reality. Every time someone uses the hole continuity gets weaker. You get the weird shit like stampedes of buffalo out of nowhere. The native cop accidentally stumbling upon an ancient tribe. Ancient Mountains pop into existence or vanish when Royal and Autumn shake hands
Buncha time travel shit
That’s really it. Holes that randomly show up and allow for time travel.
It’s not particularly good.
Like a poor man’s Yellowstone with the occasional irrelevant time loop
You can tell you didn’t even watch the show lol
There is no time loop in the show. Never understand why people shit on shows they haven’t watched and don’t understand.
>autumn is future Amy
>there is no time loop!
Frick off
Where’s the loop there?
Because so far you seem to have confused all time travel for a loop
>travelling back in time ever is always a time loop
You’re moronic
>time travel
Shame, and I was just getting kinda interested in the show
Good thing you’re not gonna watch it if a shitpost is all it took to lose interest.
EEEEEVERY ROSE HAS ITS THOOOORNSSSS
In my mind that son is played by Tim Heidecker and you can't convince me otherwise.
Kek he does look like him doesn't he. I wanted to strangle that cringe canadian homosexual every time he showed up in a scene
God I love this scene
Very rare for you to get a female antagonist who actually feels compelling. Imogen Poots best work IMO. Pulls off being a schizo cult leader really well
>Season 2 is almost done filming
How do you know that?
Does this show have gay couples or gay kisses or gay sex? Or even just buddy scenes? Involving young and handsome guys.
I'm glad it's getting a second season.
It looked like a show that might just get axed
Amazon doesn’t release viewing stats other than press releases about how something is the most viewed on their streaming platform that month or some meaningless shit. But they released nothing for this, so I’d assume it has pretty low views.
I’m 99% sure it’s only surviving and getting renewed thanks to Josh Brolin. He created it, is the executive producer.
Hope he gets to finish the story. Seems to be one he wants to just finish in a tight 3 seasons maybe. It’s not really a concept you can drag on for years and years
This needs at least 4 seasons at the rate they're going.
>ANOTHER mystery box show that can't get to the fricking point and probably never will because it will be cancelled
wow sign me the frick up
Feel free to not watch it.
not enough happens in it to warrant its length
That’s a fair critique but I thought the characters individual stories were great.
Poots and Brolin yes but I don't remember his kids having any satisfying payoff or mattering to the plot that much, I felt irritated by the end of the show
Brolins wife had a very good arc. The sons are mostly tied up in the murder but the vanished wife and now vanished Amy will be a big catalyst
Hope they have flashbacks next season showing what young royal did when he came to the 70’s and how he got involved with the abbots
Finished first season some days ago. It was kinda depressing at the end when the whole familly started falling apart. I felt really sad about the little girl "Amy".
one anon described this as "cosmic country" and I think it fits perfectly, but what else is in that genre?
Pretty based show, I don't know why Cinemaphile isn't shilling it constantly
it's just weird west, always has been
>but what else is in that genre?
Take Shelter and maybe Resolution & The Endless. Dunno.
I quit watching at episode 3 because even though I liked it I had other things to do at the time and it didn't grip me enough to pick it up afterwards. Convince me to keep watching.
This show blows ass. Boring as frick. Only good thing is E Moe Gen Poots.
This show is a great example of why nu-tv is so shit. The plot only moves forward in the last 2 minutes of each episode
