I think DC just doesn't have talent left. I think they have enough competent writers and artists to do maybe 10 comics a month but they're trying to do 50, so all these nobodies are allowed in and they kill the interest of readers across the whole lineup.

Don't you dare compare Toth to Romero. Romero can't draw expressions, everyone has the exact same neutral expression at all times. Everyone's standing around in a neutral pose most of the time. Every woman he draws has a square fridge-like body. Leonardo Romero is just a shit artist and can't draw worth a cent. And don't get me started on how he draws Cass, that's the worst Cass I've seen on a comic page. Just a weird angular doodle, like he's making fun of her.
The colors in that book are shit too.

not him but the original guy saying Romero is better; Romero's art is better because he has better design sense than some dude who learned to draw doing Jim Lee pin up copies drowned in lines. I get nothing from Benes' art, it's not sexy, it's not well designed in terms of aesthetics, the storytelling isn't even moving the needle. I will take something like Romero's art over pinup artist who can barely do that right.

shit like this is why comic visual storytelling is so awful. A generation that looked at the image guys and wanted all comics to be formatted like that.
benes was an awful fit for comics because he has no ability to draw expressions, narrative, anything more taxing than pin-ups. A lot of you like comics that are just pin-ups. Fine. He can draw a good butt(though I'm not crazy about the needs more fricking lines style). I don't even think that Romero is an 8/10, but in terms of comic narrative he's much better than Benes, who's 3/10 on a good day.

Romero can't draw expressions. You look at BoP, every character in every panel has the same expression. They also mostly have the same face and body. Barda is the sole exception, and her body is just a larger version of the regular body.
You don't need to like Benes, there are better artists in the world, but Romero is sure as hell not one of them. Romero is much much worse at everything. Nothing in this comic is drawn well. Nothing.

He may have better design sense, but it's not doing him any good on Birds of Prey. He's clearly more suited to indie comics, not dynamic action stories.

I never read Simone's BoP but Thompson is writing a non-annoying Harley Quinn and is using Cassandra Cain so I'm taking this as a win.
