I was watching this WWII movie and they're in this foxhole talking about back home. One of the the characters alludes to being gay. The other men tell him that's ok and they're still his brother.
It's possible for that to happen, since soldiers are usually normal people who got drafted. The mafia, on the other hand, is full of psychopathic criminals. Accepting that a fellow soldier you've already bonded with is a homosexual is one thing, working with a homosexual and actively giving him young boys to frick in the ass in a career criminal organization, utterly tanking your reputation to all the other crime families, is an absurdity.

It’s a truly bizarre subculture. I think it originated in rural southern Italy specifically because the government was so weak there, the mafia rose up in response to the lack of authority keeping people safe. The Kray Twins were never big time gangsters. They just had great PR. They actively lost a lot of money and profited only a little in their prime of criminal activities. Being gay is more of a big deal in major organised crime like the Italian mafia etc. the Krays were just one of a bunch of London firms. They didn’t have a boss to get angry at one of them for being gay.
Ironically the Krays made the vast amount of their actual money AFTER they got arrested and jailed. With book deals. News deals. Movie deals. Interviews. Endorsements. Etc etc.
