That's so funny to me honestly. I'm a lineman and I can't tell you how many times I have to steamroll liberals wet dreams about renewable energy. Sometimes you can't convince a lib to drop their biases but when you are an actual expert in the field there is nothing they can say because they are programmed to believe the experts.

Sometimes it works like that, but when I explain where cobalt comes from and how wind energy costs more than it produces the light drains from their faces. Also they can't seem to grasp that depending where they are the electricity in their cars comes from coal. when they start going b...b..b... remind them that coal miners and oil workers are union men and get paid healthy wages while the people mining for materials for their Teslas are literal child slaves in Africa.

electric cars are significantly more efficient than eternal combustion
~80% of the energy used to cause contained explosions gets wasted as heat, friction braking is inferior to regenerative brakes, electric motors are less complex and maintenance reliant

the problem is that they really only make sense in a place like southern california, where every single rooftop should have solar panels, therefore negligable transmission losses vs. centralized power generation, also electric cars will never work well in cold areas

they do work but batteries need to be at a certain temperature to work well (around 25C), so if you have an electic car in a cold region, you will have problems like less energy capacity than normal or even breakdown.
But as long as you have a heated garage, it's fine 🙂

              Anonymous

No they aren't dude. And its called "internal" combustion not "eternal" lol. Maybe in the future when technology resembles magic or whatever that quote is will electric cars be more efficient but until then internal combustion is the way to go.

                Anonymous

Pretty sure you are wrong. Eternal combustion never ends. Ever. Like your father's disappointment in you. Idiot.

              Anonymous

Electric cars don't work in extremely hot conditions anyway. Its just how batteries work. If you add enough heat to a battery it will eventually cease to function and since Teslas are just giant batteries there is really nothing to do other than buy a new one. That's just one of many issues too. My truck is over 30 years old and if I lose the keys to it I can just hotwire it which I have done more than once lol

              Anonymous

              >also electric cars will never work well in cold areas
I live in one of the coldest places on the planet and Tesla is one of the most popular cars here. Average temperature from november-february is probably like minus 10 celsius. I know a lot of people who own Teslas and they generally say that during those 4 months the battery capacity is like 10-20% lower than during summer. Meanwhile for gas cars it's the exact opposite. Most gasoline cars use up to 15% more fuel when during the summer months. So it basically evens out. Electric cars not super efficient for winter. Gasoline cars not super efficient for summer

Most people are fully aware that right now, a large portion of the electricity that is generated to power the EVs is done with fossil fuels. Nobody with an IQ above 90 thinks that the current situation is perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. When governments finally get their heads out of their asses and starts embracing nuclear and hydro, then EVs will have a significantly positive impact on the environment.

              >starts embracing nuclear and hydro
              Nuclear is too expensive
Hydro is built out in most developed nations
Modern coal scrubbing is good enough. One thing's certain, as coal plants have been shut down and solar/wind built, my electricity bills have done nothing but go up

do you know why you like it? i'm not trying to be confrontratial here, but most people usually reflect on why they like something. most truck drivers around where i live like driving their truck because it's a very practical vehicle when it comes to either their job or lifestyle

It rides at a nice height (regular 1/2 ton pickup not lifted) and is quieter inside than a car
Because of the height I can drive over curbs, smaller tree trunks and other obstacles when needed
Bed is useful when I need it
I like opening the little back window for a nice breeze inside
4x4 is useful when I'm not on paved roads (I don't go four wheeling but when I'm on ppl's property or unusual places it have saved my ass more than once)
I don't have a bed box right now but I have in the past and I've liked that little add-on. Might get a camper shell at some point in the future
SUVs are fine too for most of this stuff too but I prefer a bed rather than an enclosed cargo area

To add I go kayaking a handful of times a year and being able to throw kayaks in the back + all the gear and taking a few people with me ANd being able to easily get down poorly maintained access roads to the river is worth it vs. having to deal with a trailer (which I would tow with a truck or SUV anyway and are not a good idea on bad roads)

I'm convinced it was just Elon. He didn't bounce a concept off of his engineering team, who made a blueprint, followed by him revising it until they landed on a working concept. Instead he said, "Make it like this" and when the engineers said, "You can't" he said "Do it anyways" so they just made the closest thing possible and it ended up like that.

based Elon keeping the wrong thinkers out, like Alex Jones. but not because of what he said, but beause he hurt Elons feelings.
so as long as you pay up and be nice to him, his elite friends and his company and follow his censorship rules, you'll have a great free speech platform

The people who look up to Elon have NO idea what rich people are like or how to tell if they are getting swindled. The fact that Elon, the richest man in the world, is pretending to be just like the nerds on the internet or the pseudo-intellectual Joe Rogan fans should be the biggest red flag of all. If someone you don't know, especially a billionaire, is trying to be your friend they aren't doing it from the goodness of their heart. I trust the Rockefellers and the Rothschilds over Elon any day. They are evil, they know they're evil, they think they're better than you and they will let you know it while they openly frick children.

What people don’t realize is social media companies “moat” is essentially scale. You really can’t get into the space because established players suck up all the revenue.

Twitter’s scale and censorship policy long term will pay dividends. In a market that is incredibly hard to enter.

There are shitloads of vehicles that aren’t cross marketed though. California and Europe both have redivision’s restrictions that read like the tax code. It’s very difficult to market the same vehicle to both.

Also California really distorts the American truck market. You basically can’t get a cheap small truck anymore because of all their homosexual restrictions.

It looks like something nobody under the age of 50 would be caught driving, but I've owned a toyota before and it was hands down the most reliable car I've ever had and when it's time to get rid of my current car I'm going back to toyota despite the ugliness

EVS catch fire around 5% as often as gas. It's so rare it makes headlines.

Hmm wonder if it's because EVs are <5% as common as ICEs. Lithium battery fires are much more intense and harder to combat than even gasoline conflagrations. Dumbfrick

Learn to read and understand words. Obviously that 5% figure takes into account the relative rarity of EVs.

      >electric cars will never work well in cold areas
      Why not?

electric cars are significantly more efficient than eternal combustion
~80% of the energy used to cause contained explosions gets wasted as heat, friction braking is inferior to regenerative brakes, electric motors are less complex and maintenance reliant

the problem is that they really only make sense in a place like southern california, where every single rooftop should have solar panels, therefore negligable transmission losses vs. centralized power generation, also electric cars will never work well in cold areas

EVs work fine in sub-freezing temperatures. You might lose 10% range. There are tons of Telsas in Norway/Finland.

Reminder that Elon Musk only created Tesla so he could convert his billions into assets to avoid taxes. The fact that it's a electric automobile manufacturer is just the cherry on top so he can get extra tax credits. It was always a meme that dumb redditors fell for.l

He designed the entire factories. I worked in factories my whole life, he knows crap about them I know. It's much harder to design factory equipment than an actual car. That's why the factories and him are ground breaking. From the welders to the very car stitching machines he designed it.

That's a bit of a stretch. He chose the right people to design it and he made all the final calls. Part of the reason Tesla is so far ahead of their EV competitors is because Musk took the best rocket scientist eggheads from SpaceX and made them work at Tesla when a big problem needed to be solved and vice-versa

            Anonymous

tesla is considered the gold standard in EV, little things like the battery coolers are on another level from the competition

Yeah, it's quite a feat. I hope he doesn't take SpaceX public so that he continues to have a private army of 10,000 super eggheads sitting on the sideline that he can use as temp contractors when the Tesla employees hit a roadblock. That's something none of the other car manufacturers have available to them and when they hit a roadblock they are fricked

He took all his paypal money and put it into 2 tiny little meme companies that everyone thought was doomed for failure and which was only a few days away from bankruptcy at many points over the years. Now Tesla and SpaceX are among the largest corpos in the world
