I remember reading this issue once and never being able to continue because the school library only had this copy. Also Bone thread I guess.

You DID track down the rest of the series and read it in full though, RIGHT?
No. I was a dumb kid at the time and didnt know I could buy comic books online
No one outside America knows what this is.
Literally the only comic America has made thats worth a damn, and should be well known world wide...
Holy hyperbole Batman
And giving Jack Kirby (and Wally wood iirc) his first job in comics
Bone is remembered by its fans fondly.
It would be a household name if Fone Bone had ended up with Thorn. You can talk all you want about that being unrealistic, but in the end it was a comic that went on for 12+ years about a heroic little dude that fell for a girl - a girl that ended up every bit as awesome as he'd assumed when they first met - and after they overcome incredible odds he apparently at some point offscreen sat down with her and went "I've outgrown my love for you, let's be two lonely adults and go our separate ways."
As unimpressive endings go, that one's a corker.
It was one of those "Gotta stick to this ending page because it was sketched out at the start of the run" situations.
The fact that Fone Bone decided he no longer loved Thorn IN THE UNSHOWN PERIOD OF A TIME SKIP galls me to this day.
It'd be like writing a mystery story and then having the Detective's big "here's who did it and why" reveal happen offscreen.
I don't like bone
that explains why it's shit
>No one outside America knows what this is.
Our libraries had them all, called "Luupäät" (Boneheads). Bones are well known in Europe.
I'm from the Philippines and you can still find Bone volumes in book stores and school libraries, the latter was how I discovered the series when I was young.
This is their canon voices
I don't think I can watch this
There was a cool fan made voiced motion comic of a PK story and when the guy doing Donald finally spoke my brain seized up. I realized I didn't really know WHAT I thought he should sound like, only that what I was hearing was wrong
Some comics you spend enough time with, having just the vague semi-voice you hear inside your head, and anything else sounds off
Fone Bone sounds like John Fiedler, which is the right idea, but too old. Gilbert Gottfried is dead so there's no one to cast as Phoney.
Overall I think those voices need to be way more cartoony. Right now they sound like the Watchmen motion comic where the one guy did all the voices himself.
This guy as Smiley
into it
Who's will eisener? And that Disney font?
will Eisner was a cartoonist, that’s just a typical old cartoonist hand writing.
Will Eisner was a comic strip artist during the 40s and 50s, know mostly for The Spirit and A Contract with God.
The Eisner Award is named in his honor because his comics were pretty revolutionary in their respective times.
What kind of bone is Bone?
Hes a bone(r)
Is this the one where he bones her?
These books are kino. My father knows Jeff Smith, so I grew up with them and a bunch of Bone merch.
Is he a cool guy? I remember Wizard interviews and he seemed alright. I most remember the Cerebrus dude wanting to beat his ass though.
Who ISN'T on Sim's shit list?
Good point
Nice to know. He seemed chill last time I read an interview. I need to give Bone a re-read. it's been forever.
I never personally met him, but my dad seems to have respect for him, so I’d assume he’s not an butthole
>I most remember the Cerebrus dude wanting to beat his ass though.
That's because Dave Sims went to Jeff Smith's house to rant and espouse his beliefs about women in front of the latter's wife, leading to Smith kicking him out of the house.
I really need to brush up on my Dave Sim lore. Holy shit.
It was quite the gossip point back in the day. There was even a lot of heresay on Ye Olde Internet about tough talk between the two, with the possibility that they'd face each other in a boxing match. Obviously that never went anywhere, and I don't know if any sort of conversations like that actually happened or if it was just online bystanders getting worked up and creating their own narrative of events.
Jeff smith is a massive homosexual then
I mean he's the one who still has a wife
Hi Dave
Why samegay?
Also I hate him more because he went crazy during the trump years.
It's actually impressive how many artists, writers, etc. lost their goddamned heads during this guy's presidency. There is something so raw about the hate the orange guy caused in these circles. Obviously something psychological, although I can't quite put my finger on what exactly.
Also, thanks, OP, you awoke some distant memories in me. Must have read this one for the first time 10 years ago. One of the best american comics I have ever read, and very probably my favourite. For the people saying the ending is kinda lackluster, it did seem so to me when I read it, but thinking back on it now(I should reread it, yes), it might have been on purpose.
It's not normal to have such a deranged frickwit as a major authority figure in your country. It'll frick with anyone's sense of normalcy.
Maybe some people just don't like children in cages.
It's also deranged how much people insist on sucking his wiener. It's like he's caused a braindead cult to be formed around him.
I can't imagine caring about a politician that much, either way.
Jeff, your homosexual ass is seething. Kys
When you are weened on the manichean morality most prominently found in comic books and movies, a dude acting smug and belligerent and not getting his end-of-episode-comeuppance can fry your wires a little.
>What a massive homosexual, loving his wife
Why samegay and go so insane like this? You proved anons point
Oddly enough I actually discovered this comic in my elementary school library, I don't think they quite understood what was actually going on behind the cover. Good read though.
It's a kid's comic, anon. Smith made a ton of money through the scholastic licensing deal and that's how most of these were read.
Kids books in general get less scrutiny from censorship(in general, not to say there aren't plenty attempts at banning kid's books). Hell I remember reading Hatchet in fifth grade and being shocked at the detail of the dead pilot's head underwater being picked clean by fish. That was more visceral than even R rated movies I had seen
I'm sad about this animated show is cancelled in Netflix.
Before he did Bone Jeff Smith wrote a strip for his collage newspaper featuring many of the ideas that would become Bone. It's getting a collected release in a few months. I think some kick starter backers already got their. I wish I knew. I probably would have backed.
I remember Wizard featured this comic quite a bit. I never got around to reading it. I should do that.
@143375342
>He’s still going
Take your meds.
This is why nobody wants to work with you Jeff. You’re boarderline schizophrenic.
What happened here?
Jeff smith, while shilling his comic, predictably went off the deep end as he always does over menial shit.
Jeff would be shilling his new comics if he posted here.
Sounds like you're the one samegayging
I cannot wait until the last few oldgays who use the
>hello____
thing die off. It stopped being funny 15 years ago.
