I saw a lot of people complaining about the fallout tv show ignoring or changing canon stuff, so I went in expecting it to do so. But there really isn’t anything changed

Even the stuff people are mad about isn’t confirmed in the show. Spoilers ahead but I’ll point out what I mean

First off the big reveal that Vault Tec dropped the bomb, omg!

Except there’s no reason in the show to think they actually did this. And this whole meeting wasn’t just to spur investors for their vaults

Think about it. The woman pitching this, why exactly would she let her daughter be with her ex husband on the day they plan to drop nukes and destroy the world?

Likewise. Robert House was the only head of a company in this scene not actually interested in stupid vault experiments, because he doesn’t care. He doesn’t object either because that would mean no longer being in the know.

So why exactly would House not recieve the platinum chip he needed to save all of Las Vegas on time if he knew when the bomb was gonna be dropped? He wouldn’t wait for the last second on purpose. Same with all the stories of vaults who didn’t get all the people they had signed up in on time because nobody expected the nukes

My guess is they reveal next season when Ghoul meets his ex wife

    >you vault tec buttholes destroyed the world!
    >is revealed they didn’t get a chance to enact their plan to nuke first because America or China did, hence why so many vaults didn’t get filled on time for the experiments, and why things generally did not go to plan

Plus, vault tec STILL has nukes 200+ years later, that’s how Hank nuked shady sands. Surely they wouldn’t have them if they used them to start the war?

I was thinking the same thing. Plus, the fact that Goggins has the daughter suggests the divorce didn't go well. (obviously he's doing birthdays because Vault Tec ruined is career, but his wife was also probably ruined. maybe it was a big controversy in the news)
I guess we'll see in Season 2. Either this is all planned out by the writers, or it's just another plot hole.

I thought that was just confirmation that not only Vault-Tec can do this, but it was outright confirmation that they did this. Them having more nukes to drop just means that they have more nukes to drop.

This chalkboard sequence confused some people but it’s just a kids classroom.

The “fall of shady sands” is the same year of the battle of hoover dam. My guess is they won a phyrric victory and the capital of the NCR moved somewhere more convenient. Thus the hub of NCR business moved elsewhere

By the time shady sands got nuked after it was a city on the decline

All the other stuff is more nitpicky like ghouls having meds to delay becoming feral. This is hardly something unthinkable. Fallout has always been unreliable with its information. Hence the whole “who invented Jet?” Question

The reason for the Vault-Tec nuke reveal is because Amazon/Bethesda didn't want to mention China as the bad guy. It's a dumb copout that's emblematic of the story-by-committee bullshit that makes the show feel like a sanitized Fallout theme park instead of an actual story that builds up the Fallout world.

Except in the games it’s never confirmed China dropped the bomb either.

The whole point is it doesn’t actually matter any more who dropped the bomb first. The result is the same.

That said. From a logical perspective it makes more sense if China did just because China seemed to be losing the war thanks to American power armor helping them advance into the Chinese mainland. Compared to China, whose biggest advance was into Alaska which they then got kicked out of.

If the Chinese government was desperate and thought they were going to lose it makes sense they’d launch first. And since the Chinese had advanced stealth tech, they also had

      >lots of undercover communists in America to help (perhaps some launched the USA’s own nukes against them?)
      >Chinese nuclear subs parked right off the coast of America, hidden with stealth tech

The divergence of focus on tech between China and America was always interesting to me. How china focused on stealth tech which worked for people and whole vehicles, while America focused on overt power via the power armor, walking tanks essentially.

If the show does it right they should reveal vault tec didn’t get the chance to enact their plan and they actually have no idea who dropped the bomb first

FO3 mothership zeta suggests it was aliens who set off the war somehow (can't remember how) otherwise its never too clear who threw the first bombs - alaska invaded by Chinese, Gobi campaign by the USA. Is there really anything else?

Sorry shill. Show still sucks ass. Lore aside this is a terrible show with horrendous writing. And I expect season 2 to absolutely decimate New Vegas. And I'll be there to point and laugh at shills like you when it happens.

I've never seen such a mediocre show being shilled as much as this TV show. I don't think I've seen one review that actually mentioned why the show is good other than "It's just like muh bideo gaymes!" or "Duh visuals are bretty good!"
And if you think the writing in this show is good then you have to be a shill. This show has some of the most fricking moronic scenes I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing.

Mostly because this shitty tv show has been shilled everywhere. Not just Cinemaphile. And I find it very odd that a TV show this mediocre and shitty is getting this much traction.

Things Fallout TV show changed that isn't compatible with previous games.

    1) Ghouls need drugs to not get feral. Very bizzare and obvious change never established in any of the previous games and honestly it fricks up a lot of previous quests in some ways. I am surprised it's never point out.
    2) Power armors, they fly now? They fly now. Now, they did have jetpacks, but they fly now in most literal sense, they the power armors have a built-in functionality to fly now without a jetpack. They fly now.
3)Brotherhood of Steel became weirdly ritualistic. Branding people, chanting prayers, having intestines fed to vultures as a punishment? I literally don't understand why would you even add that to them, it's just weird, it's so insignificant that if you remove it nothing would just change, but the fact that they add it and double down on it is just confusing. Realistically the most punishment one should be able to receive for fricking up in Brotherhood of Steel is banishment. That, or if you are a thief or a spy then you just get the laser. Why not go even dumber and make Brotherhood of Steel boil people alive inside power armors, I mean, what is this?
    4) Shady Sands is placed near the Boneyard which makes no sense. Fallout 2 changed placement from Shady Sands too, but not to level where it's absurd that Shady Sands even is still a town. Master's Cathedral was supposed to be near Shady Sands, meaning either Supermutants never happened or show is wrong.

The fallout tv show is set after Al of the games

Why is the idea that they figured out a drug to delay ghouls becoming feral ghouls so hard to buy? It’s been two centuries now. 200 years with ghouls around

      >Ghouls need drugs to not get feral. Very bizzare and obvious change never established in any of the previous games

There are a couple of characters in FO4 who became ghouls using chems, so it's not entirely out of left field that chems could prevent turning feral.
My understanding of the canon is that all ghouls can potentially turn feral. For some, it happens almost instantaneously (Camp Searchlight in NV) whereas others can go for more than a 100 years without an issue.
I don't think the show is implying that all ghouls immediately need to take a drug to keep from turning feral. Only that once they start showing signs of going feral the drug can delay or prevent them from turning.
That hasn't been in the games but it doesn't contradict anything that I'm aware of. I don't think the game ever shows a ghoul going from normal to feral.
The drug itself could be something that was developed after the events of NV.

i dont think the main criticism for the show is about the lore
in general - as video game adaptations go - they did a good job of representing the overall tone, background and lore
main critcism of the show is the utter randomness and happenstance and literal meters of plot armor everyone has:

    - enclave scientist simply walks away from a minigun turret
    - meetup between lucy and the Black person in the middle of nowhere for no reason other than that they need each others help at this exact moment
    - robot attaches a new finger for lucy before taking her to harvest her organs
    - ghoul rocket pistol literally explodes other guys, except when its a MC
    - lucy and Black person arrive at the radio station exactly at the right time
    - ghoul cowboy kills 5 sets of power armor because he knows a special weak point

its all just so fricking convenient and thin from a plot perspective
i really fear season 2 will be a repeat of the mandalorian
yeah, the first season was received well because they didnt make all the goddamn mistakes shows like WoT or RoP made, but in essence the writers are hacks and after s01 the plot needs to carry which it absolutely wont
