First 1/3 and all the detective parts are cool and atmospheric. The twilight shit is cringe and ruins the movie, literally had to skip it. Shame. Could've been 9/10 10/10.

it been alluded to a few times that the Wayne's were at least adjacent to elitist corruption. I think in Batman: Earth One its implied the Cobblepot family ordered the hit, and in the Court of Owls arc the villain is implied to be an illegitimate son of Martha.
I like the idea, my issue with it in thr movie is Martha didn't do anything bad, she was just committed but no one would care about that in the real modern world and Thomas was exonerated by Alfred almost immediately after Bruce talks to Falcone.
And like this Anon said, it's been alluded to. In Batman Rip they use info about the Wayne's being degenerates as a smear campaign against Bruce

Honestly this is what sold me on the movie, warts and all. The fact they just made Batman film in contrast to every superhero franchise going full moron on multiverses felt like a relief more than anything else.
batman movies are at their best when its just treated as a stand alone universe and not part of some cinematic thing. just batman, gotham, and the villains trying to frick it over.
as soon as you introduce actual superheroes like superman and the flash with godlike powers, cosmic enemies like darksied and brainiac, and planet threatening doom, its just so far out of the realm of what batman is meant to handle.
