I saw Up In Smoke the other day for the first time and while I enjoyed it for being basically a high-effort shitpost it really didn't leave any sort of lasting impression. I felt this same way with Blazing Saddles, Caddyshack, even Airplane and Naked Gun. All "classic" comedies are well produced but... I mean, I didn't laugh even once.

I liked grandmas boy. That video game corp where the MC works is nostalgic asf, definitely the best representation of early 2000s gaming.

in your defense, i tried watching major league. and it was awful. i turned it off 30 minutes into it.
not sure if it was my copy, but all the joke scenes were done without a single musical score, just background audio. it was not funny at all. i mean in a theater i would laugh, but not watching this at home.
i understand why they have laugh tracks, and comedy audio cues.

Most of their films feel timeless in their humor even if their references are dated.

everyone felt like a sinister butthole in M*A*S*H, not sure why it was marketed as a straight comedy when it's more like a dark examination of people losing their fricking minds over a war. the somber mock funeral with the guy wanting to kill himself because he thought he was turning gay wasn't funny, it was trippy and surreal.

Most of these "classic" comedies are funny or sometimes clever but a lot of the time it's overrated. I think they are worth seeing but getting the whole "you haven't seen christmas vacation????" reaction from Gen Xers really sold to me that people will prop up any decently watched comedy movie as a "timeless must watch classic"
Like I like Dodgeball and Anchorman and Austin Powers but I'm not gonna freak out in 20 years when someone hasn't seen it just because they were better than something else like The Benchwarmers.
