I see the Borderlands movie is continuing the series tradition putting a generic Psycho front and center and treating him as if he's the main character.

>No Mordecai
>No Brick
>Instead we get a psycho that can barely talk, le crazy girl and the npc scientist
Weird choice of characters to include
Video games are so fricking cringe it's unreal
modern movies are no different, but yes
It's going to be BADASS
I strongly dislike Jamie lee Curtis and actively avoid seeing her on screen.
>modern gaming meets modern hollywood
Oh boy, I can't wait to preorder the collector's edition and get my Claptrap popcorn vessel
Krieg from the games would be way to crazy of a character as he is actually straight. Being a dual personality psycho I get but being attracted to females? In this day in age? Insanity.
How did it take me looking up the cast for this, then double checking the characters to realise that Hammerlock is black?
to be fair I played through the entirety of bl2 multiple times and only realized when i played bl3. the lighting hides it
Trailer looks like shit, so no thanks. Lilith is fricking OLD, Kevin Hart is joke (even black man has to emasculated now?), Tina won't be as crazy and won;t be spouting nig-speak every other word, Tannis is fricking OLD and IMAGINE that said, I am imagining right now., Krieg won't be as entertaining. All and all looks like shit.
Also Black Jack as Crap-trap, seriously? Couldn't they get the guy who voiced him in games? I memba there was some drama, but no details.
borderlands writers
Borderlands fans suddenly have standards?
The guy who voiced him in the games up until Borderlands 3 was just a regular Gearbox employee who did it on the side for free. When he asked to actually get paid for the voice acting he was fired.
The casting in this movie is like the "cast him-Idris Elba" meme but played for real.
THIS is what they shit out after spending a decade in development Hell? Even the games have better writing than this, and they're peak millennial writing
So much of the cast is a case of "would have been good... 15 years ago"
Some of the worst casting in recent memory holy shit.
Now I'm glad Handsome Jack isn't in it, they would have butchered him
I immediately tried to think of a meme actor they'd cast. First I thought of was Ryan Reynolds
I'm not sure if I hate that idea or think it could actually work now...
Kevin Hart would have made a better claptrap than being fricking Roland
>Filming officially began on April 1, 2021 in Budapest, Hungary, during the COVID-19 pandemic.[25] The film wrapped on June 22.[26][27][28] On June 4, 2021, first look images of the cast were released, with black and white images obscuring all but the cast's silhouettes.[29]
>In January 2023, it was announced the film would be going through two weeks of reshoots directed by Tim Miller, due to Roth's commitments to Thanksgiving (2023). While Roth would not be involved with the reshoots, he remained attached to the film and gave Miller his blessing.[30] Zak Olkewicz scribed new pages for Miller.[31] In June 2023, Mazin removed his name from the project, replaced by Joe Crombie; Mazin denied reports that Crombie was his pseudonym.[32] Additional literary material credits were given to Berg, Uziel, Taylor, Rettenmaier, Olkewicz, Chris Bremner, and Sam Levinson.[33]
Why did they wait a year and a half for reshoots? Won’t it be obvious like The Flash reshoots were?
Maybe the worst casting in film history. Everyone is either too old or completely mismatched to the characters. They're also missing half of the original crew. The only one who looked semi good was Moxxi and they showed her for half a second. This is going to bomb so hard
Full cast:
Cate Blanchett as Lilith
Kevin Hart as Roland
Jack Black as Claptrap
Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Patricia Tannis
Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina
Florian Munteanu as Krieg
Haley Bennett
Edgar Ramírez as Atlas
Bobby Lee as Larry
Olivier Richters as Krom
Janina Gavankar as Commander Knoxx
Gina Gershon as Mad Moxxi
Cheyenne Jackson as Jakobs
Charles Babalola as Hammerlock
Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus
Steven Boyer as Scooter
Ryann Redmond as Ellie
>Cate Blanchett as Lilith
No we can't have attractive women anymore it must be old ladies or ethnic/mixed.
Cate Blanchett's best role was Galadriel but that was over 25 years ago. Yes women should be cast on looks especially if they're supposed to be playing a much younger character.
Gender flipped Knoxx and they created a generic white CEO to be the villain.
atrocious casting, someone gave them a bunch of money and they wasted ALL of it.
Money laundering scheme hiding behind a GOTG ripoff. No Short Change Hero and the tune they did pick sounds like an amalgamation of all the songs James Gunn uses in his films.
Has this b***h gone full nude yet?
At a certain level of cosplay fame nudes probably earn you less money.
>Has this b***h gone full nude yet?
Nigri hasn't, but Tabby Lyons [
] has - she's basically become a Playboy Bunny.
Nigri never will.
So basically Suicide Squad 2016 2.0

>borderlands movie
>not animated
Missed opportunity.
fricking this, they could have done something animated in the vein of BL1 and it might have been good. the visual style was one of the things that made the original so unique (at least until the sequels and clones ran it into the ground)
looks based tbh can't wait to get high and hardly pay attention to it once it hits netflix
Great quote from elsewhere: "It looks like someone fed an AI their take on the James Gunn formula and told it to make a Borderlands movie."
>generic
Krieg is literally a playable character, you dumb Black person.
I've put up with a lot of shit being one of the morons that genuinely likes these games but this is where I draw the fricking line.
the entire media industry seethes about AI and goes on strike just so they can continue pumping out progressive captalism shit like this
They probably should have just had Ashly Burch play Tina herself
It's not like Borderlands had particularly good, cool, or even tolerable characters to begin with. The games are fricking gay and the only thing going for them is the aesthetic, which is exactly why you need the psycho mask guy front and center: it actually looks cool.
Anyway, just gonna echo that this is some of the worst casting I've ever seen. Shame, because visually the movie looks alright and probably could have been a fun, quirky watch. I refuse to even look at fricking Jamie Lee Curtis; been sick of that ugly dyke for decades. And Cate Blanchett is way too old and busted to be Lilith, but of course we can't have a movie that teenage boys might jack off to anymore.
>CHADS LOVES COMPANY
I think conceptually a borderlands movie could have been a huge hit, but it would require great writers and a perfect cast.
The awful cast just screams that this movie was made by people that don't understand or give two shits about the franchise. Probably some nepotism going on
Same thing for the Fallout TV series. That trailer felt live a fever dream.
>muh deep borderlands lore
lmao. I dunno looks like dumb fun in the vein of the new jumanji movies etc
>dumb fun
considering the trailer is boring and unfunny, i doubt it'll even be that. the cast would need chemistry
Who cares. Borderlands is a frickin mediocre franchise infested with cringe dialogues and horrible humor anyway
Going to be truly pathetic if this doesn’t bomb.
Isn't Krieg Tina's dad? Makes sense that he's treated like a main character then. Besides, Psychos have always been front and center in the boxart.
Where is the sexy clown woman?
If they want vidya adaptions to be the next thing they need to not make shlock, including intentionally shlocky shlock.
Were the fantasy spin offs good? when I'm in the mood for some sloppa the borderlands sloppa really hits
