No, the show was liked because the protagonist was a "witty" edgy atheist being written to btfo everyone.
It's also a doctor themed show so its viewers think they are being educated in medicine and thus becoming more cultured by watching it.
I personally cannot stand any doctor themed show, and much less one with the agenda of "YOU SHOULD CHEAT ON YOUR PARTNER!".

lolwut. It's a workplace drama with an antihero MC... literally the exact same format as 90% of detective shows.

House doesn't btfo everyone all the time though. People who haven't actually watched any episodes think the show is about him being right all the time but he's not, in every episodes he makes numerous wrong guesses and irresponsible mistakes that nearly kill the patient until at the very end he finally figures it out, and occasionally he doesn't figure it out at all, someone else does.
Also House's extreme personality is not played as a positive thing, the show is largely about him ruining his own life and health and relationships.

Never watched it myself but it seemed to me like housewives wanted to frick hugh laurie and tired husbands wanted to be like him
It's a pretty good show if you don't mind the formulaic "patient/disease" of the week set up. It starts off pretty good, having more of a focus on the actual patients and illness with little bits of character drama here and there. That focus then shifts completely after a while, making the patients an afterthought in order to focus on House's team drama.
I remembering watching this on a weekly basis when it aired on tv. Real comfy. Great waifus.

House's first few seasons are mid, because they were following a procedural formula.
But by around season 3 they start experimenting and the show improves dramatically.
Also tritter and vogler are boring antags.
