I don’t know how things are post-Disney but one of the George Lucas biographies said Mark Hamill made a great deal more from Wing Commander than he did from Star Wars. He had some kind of sweetheart profit sharing deal on it.
Also Hamill was given half a gross point in A New Hope, which was worth a few million dollars but came in trickles over the next 20-30 years as opposed to one big payout.

I recall Hamill saying that even though he appeared in arguably the biggest film trilogy of all time, he was stuck serving as a waiter by the 90s and getting hired as the Joker for Batman TAS saved his career.
People constantly b***h about celebrities getting voice acting roles that should have gone to professional voice actors but a lot of professional voice actors started out as film actors or celebrities from notable films like Mark Hamill, Keith David, and Clancy Brown
The VAs who complain about “ celebrity voice acting” are the ones like Tara Strong who scoop up every cartoon role they can to gatekeeper new blood from coming in. There’s a difference from a celebrity voice actor in some Dreamsorks movie, and a live a tin actor who takes on voice roles to supplement their income.
>ones like Tara Strong who scoop up every cartoon role they can to gatekeeper new blood from coming in.
I don't know Strong personally, but most VAs grab as many jobs as they can because any one job pays peanuts.

The issue with celebrity VAs is they're usually disrespectful to the job while being pretty bad at it and are only cast to say "We have Dua Lipa as Third-Rate Villainess Underling" when it could've literally been anyone based on their performance. Clancy , Mark, or JK Simmons usually do a damn good job despite being theatrical actors because they don't see the job as "coming into a booth and just reading off the words"
Studio Ghibli movies are another example of them doing dubs with fairly big celebrity casts but they care enough to make it good. I don't know if it's laziness or disrespect or what that causes the sort of Dreamworks effect of random stars so they can promote the movie like you said.
The issue is when you have celebrity voice actors who are clearly just there to be a name on the poster and get asses in seats. No one has a problem with celebrity voice actors who are actually good at voice acting.
Nah, I think he gave a pretty good preformance. The writing for the character was just sort of weak so he couldn't give it his all. Even the best actors falter with bad direction.
For me, it was learning he voiced Skips on regular show. Must be pretty comfy to get steady work like he does along with non-stop Star Wars checks.

Hamil usually voices villains in cartoons.
That and Ozai literally sounds like Joker of he had a drowsier cadence
You can't? He voiced the Joker in BTAS. Voicing another villain was an obvious choice.
He doesnt sound like hamil at all
Rewatch the final fight with Aang he sounds a lot like the Joker.
Apparently before Star Wars he had basically been typecast for villain roles in most of his TV acting gigs.
For me it was Solomon Grundy.
>I can't believe a voice actor did voice acting.

When you go back and watch older movies everything clicks.

Dave Bautista as big bird

Once you hear that same moronic gruff voice he uses for every stock character you realize Hamill is in literally everything.
>gruff voice
Hamil? Gruff voice?
His best villain role was in motorcity
There isbcertainly a reel yes, of all the villains he's voiced right? Has he ever done Darth?
He did the voice of some ancient sith lord in TCW. The irony of that casting decision is palpable.

fun fact: the japanese dub also got their Luke Skywalker VA Bin Shimada to dub Darth Bane too.
Undergrowth.
>Don't forget who holds the leash.
Probably because Ozai had 15 minutes of screentime
I'd forgotten that since Conroy died Hamil said he didn't want to voice the Joker anymore
Can't believe Conroy was only 66.
Sucks to lose both of them but I think it's a pretty understandable position for Hamill to take in order to honor the passing of his friend.
Im tired of pretending that conroy is a good va
He was but Diedrich Bader has since supplanted him as the iconic Batman voice in my mind.
Miscast

He did good
It was cool.
He is pretty talented..
And this is shocking to you OP.
Yes I did the soi face
Child like wonder and joy
