I still don't fricking get Alastor.

I still don't fricking get Alastor. I know he's bound by some deal but is he actually earnestly warming up to the hotel in spite of that, or is it all an act? Episodes 7 and 8 gave very mixed signals.

He better not betray them outright.

He has ulterior motives but genuinely likes the people there. Still, it's a gradual thing and where he currently stands his own goals take precedent. I suspect he'll be the last to be truly redeemed in the story in a big emotional moment.

He's going to betray them, but yeah, it's going to be the big moment. He'll use the deal with Charlie to make her do something terrible (Kill Lucifer?) and she'll still forgive him because she realizes the pain he's in.

She specifically asked for it to not be to harm someone

It's a Faustian deal. The wording will be used against her. Monkey's paw shit.

          >He'll use the deal with Charlie to make her do something terrible
Marry him, despite him being canonically asexual.

Nothing sexual about wanting a pet.

It’s gonna go down like when Captain Hook promised Tinkerbell he wouldn’t “lay a hand” on Peter, so he blows him up with a bomb. Alastor will tell Charlie he doesn’t want her to hurt anyone, she only needs to push a button or something like that.

Yup. And if they're skilled, it'll be something that seems mundane that will blow up in Charlie's face. Like Alastor asking the favor that he can always have a place to stay in the hotel... then Lucifer wants to destroy the hotel.

I honestly thought that Vaggie’s promise to never ask Alastor to interfere with matters concerning television was really gonna come up again in season 1. Seems both an odd thing to carry over into season 2, and also odd to ignore completely.

They didn’t even stay consistent with Alastor avoiding being on camera, we see Vox is watching him and probably recording him all along, with only a little glitching static.

Eh, that's just character building that Vox and Alastor are enemies. If Alastor blew up every camera that looked at him that'd visually get boring and would say that Vox had no chance against Alastor. Vaggie had a trash cam-corder, of course it had more problems.

He is warming up the hotel more than he himself wants to admit, you see it in the scene with Nifty in episode. He also agreed to fight Adam who he knew could really kill him, presumably to help the hotel. He's deeply conflicted internally and mentally ill, which makes sense given his predilections

I think he thought that Adam wouldn't be able to kill him and so it was just a bit of fun for him. Once it became clear that he could have actually been killed by Adam, that's when Alastor starts breaking down and fearing that this deal to help Charlie and defend the hotel might actually leave him dead.

It's amazing how Alastor's storyline wasn't completely rushed given fast this season went and by default is one of the few characters still somewhat interesting. Amazon was stupid to split a 16-episode offer into 2 seasons.
P.S. we needed more moment of him with Charlie, the egg bois, and nifty

I think he obviously does care about them [His talk with Niffty on the balcony] But he still eventually will for 'reasons' betray them, Maybe because he's compelled to by whoever is ordering them around, Or maybe he slips the leash he's on and takes out his anger at being bossed around for however long on Charlie and co' and causes some sort of calamity [e.g. Puts Lucifer/Vaggie/Angel in a coma with force-lightning, Destroys the Hotel, Ryona beatdowns Charlie etc]

Then his final character arc and growth in the last season will be him having the 'What have i done?' regret moment and coming back to the rest of the main crew to save them / do a heroic sacrifice in the final episode.

he is bound on earth in hell with us for the same reason Lucifer is.

Viv said in a recent Q&A that he'd be categorized as chaotic neutral. In the past she's said that he genuinely enjoys that company of women.

The show itself is also indicating that he's a charismatic and social person that genuinely likes the company of (certain) people. But that he's crazy and tied down by a particular history.

He seems similar to GOT Littlefinger to me. He's to an extent sociopathic and cunning, but not misanthropic. He enjoys their company, but doesn't seem particularly empathetic either or attached to the hotel's causes.

I noticed how the only people he genuinely seemed to get along with in the show were women but I didn't think it was intentional. Interesting.

He got along fine with most everyone except Vaggie. He just didn't want to have sex with Angel Dust

Does he though? Husk hates him, Vox has a hateboner for him, he mocked and belittled Sir Pentious...

Sir Pentious and Vox were trying to mess with the hotel which he actually cares about. With Husker though he's a jerk so fair enough.

Show GOT botched this, but real sociopathic/BPD personalities don't have grand schemes and have the same basic needs as everyone. They want to be around people and be recognized and appreciated, but they take the extra step of thinking how they can force it.

Talking to Nifty is like talking to the family dog. He’s got no good reason to lie to her.

The way I saw it was he was coming around to them, but him nearly dying to Adam made him reassess his situation and he went back to prioritizing himself and his plan.

what do we call people who are religiously insane ramblers about God and angels and demons?

That they're cracked... but if you already know the whole story then maybe you can translate their channeling into something useful. They also happen to be the followers of the metaphorical Satan of the show (sir pentious) so that also checks out.

If Alastor and Charlie don't get pestered by the eggs they're missing comedic potential.

Viv doesn't have it in her to make him actually do anything scummy or villainous. And if he will do something it will be resolved and forgiven in the next episode.
