funny how Cinemaphile started hating on this as soon as it started streaming. back in december it was the greatest godzilla movie ever
it's unironically a good godzilla movie but ruined by japanese acting and shonen-tier tropes. feels like they spent most of the budget on the cgi and soundtrack, maybe one or two good actors as well

It's not "like Shin Godzilla", it's that both Minus One and Shin Godzilla are basing themselves on the same film.
The entire film's ethos is to be the anti-Shin because of how terrified they were of trying to follow up the first big Godzilla film in a generation.
So there couldn't be Apples to Apples comparisons of any beat.

As a long time goji fan it's super amusing to watch normies talk about Godzilla like they can even have a valid opinion. Die hard goji fans loved this movie. Toho got theirs and there will probably be more to come. Even with monsterslop shitting up the IP life is pretty good as a Goji fan in 2024.
