I keep the first three seasons of Adventure Time + the season 5 episode where Finn goes to Pillow World, which I treat as the series finale, in my shuffle. That's genuinely lighthearted fun stuff to just watch and enjoy. The rest is SHIT, thouever.

Im not into kids shows as an adult, but my gf is into cartoons and shit. Out of everything she's put on I like this one by far the most. Good atmosphere, catchy songs, cool concept and artwork, has some emotional depth despite being 6 12 minute episodes, etc. etc. It's a solid show. Don't know what the hell you're on about.

Western Animation as a medium in general has been a tumblr ghetto from about 2010 onwards.
Smiling Friends is one of the few recent exceptions and even that's a bit of a throwback because of a lot of its appeal is that old Newgrounds animators finally got a network show.
In 2010 this artstyle and vibe was innovative and fresh. But then the entire decade was nothing but this so it all retroactively tastes like shit upon rewatch.

Rather than embrace the whimsy, the writers neurosis shines through. So you could say it suffers from angst, rather than embracing the fairy tail it was aiming for.
