They're boring drivel that doesn't make very much sense if you spend 2 seconds thinking about it. They're much closer to the original trilogy than the sequels overall.
No
The 1st and 3rd hold up the best. I remember enjoying the 3rd in theaters at the time. The people who b***h about them expected the film to transport them to their childhood and give them the feelings of a child. That is never going to happen.
Even jar jar is fine and I find it hard understand why people hated him so.
i was expecting a tragic fall of a good man, not stupid kid becoming an angsty teenager who then kills his wife and tries to kill his only friend for no reason.
and robots vs clones? no. that is not what I thought the clone wars were going to be.
>the story in my head is not the story George Lucas wanted to tell
and that is the core of the issue. people didn't go to those movies to see what George made and were upset that what he made did not match their head cannon.
and you can do better? you have more knowledge of film than George Lucas?
Well show me. Or at least post your superior script.

how do you define a bad film?
is a film bad because you don't like it?
That is a rubbish standard
The three films were made in a technically competent way. You might not like his story or art decisions but so what.
I’ve gotta be the only one who saw Annakin’s fall as realistic. Unironically high IQ. His only motivation was saving Natalie Portman, Palpatine was the only one who could do it. When he kills Windu that’s it, he’s gotta commit. It’s all or nothing. No use fretting.
If padme died nothing else matters, which is why he became a sith robot. As sketchy as it is to trust palpatine he’s literally the only one with a potential solution to an established fact. He’s already got access to the Jedi knowledge and they’ve got frick all. His premonitions are absolute and shown by the force. Time is running out and the dark side is the only unexplored avenue, and Palpatine is the only with alive.

But it literally doesn’t matter. Jar Jar could’ve told him to genocide the gungans to save Padme. When Padme dies Annakin dies as well so there’s no point to thinking rationally. He literally doesn’t care because it will all be over once she’s gone.
Annakin was obsessed and insanely in love.

>there's no point for a clairvoyant space wizard to use his clairvoyant space wizard powers in any capacity but what the person manipulating him says to
So I hope you've noticed by now how I've gotten you to completely encircle the main issue with the movies. Anakin has no agency. He does whatever palpatine tells him. Why? Because that's what the script needs to happen to go forward. I loath to ascribe any sort of self-awareness to george lucas, but it kinda does seem like he recognized that anakin would need to be really fricking stupid to fall for any of this, so that's why the clone wars and mythic jedi were barely 20 years before the OT, so anakin could be very young the entire time.

What did Yoda say? Oh right >Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
Anakin lives this out. His emotions his fear of losing Padme clouds his mind and his abilities.
He can't see the future clearly. He is madly in love, confused, and desperate. All he sees is one possible out and he takes it and that completes his journey to the dark side.

So, you agree. Anakin is very stupid in the prequels.
I rest my case.

he is blinded by his passions and makes stupid decisions is a better description.
it would have been out of character for him to be able to use the force and see clearly the future. >Anakin has no agency.
should he have agency? he was a slave first and then taken from his mother to be raised by the jedi. His entire life others have made decisions for him.
Is his character one that should fell in control of his actions?
They're boring as shit. Sequels are shittier, that it makes them look better in comparison, but this idea that the prequels were all good always made me laugh. Read any post from before 2015 and you'll see people shitting on them.
They may not be great but they are not so horrible you need to write songs about how George Lucas raped your childhood.
The reaction to those films was overblown nonsense. They were fine, maybe George went a bit far in some places but whatever, they are still enjoyable.
Prequels had a lot of action, way more than the OT again people were literally just filtered by the tariff dialogue. If Lucas changed “tariffs” to “sooooper space lazzzzers” boomers wouldn’t have chimped so hard about the prequels.
I always thought it was cool how the OT was an homage to the classic Kurosawa Japanese samurai films and then the prequels were like Shaw brothers. Insane, but fun.
I grew up with the prequels. I didn't even watch the first star wars until 2015 as a teenager.
Even I'm 100% willing to admit that the prequels are dogshit. The acting is horrible. The dialogue is horrible. The pacing is horrible. The story is borderline incomprehensible. The CGI looks like dogshit nowadays. Some casting choices are questionable at best.
And this "action" you're raving about is extremely dull, there's zero stakes and most of the time the action boils down to "green-screen jedi slices CGI droids/clones". You're probably fondly remembering some of the fight scenes like Qui-Gon + Obi Wan vs Darth Maul. Needles in a proverbial haystack of cowshit.
they are mediocre as a whole but have some good scenes and ideas
George constantly fricking with the OT in various special editions and his general disdain for the EU is what really got the diehard autists all riled up
They're dreck. They're schlocky in a way that's occasionally fun (like Yoda screeching and flipping around in a duel with Count Dracula) but they're nevertheless bad.
George Lucas took this personally. He had the last laugh.
Apologize!
>mostly OT fans (justifiably) shitting on the prequels
It was okay.
Are the prequels THAT bad? I haven't seen them since I was a kid watching them in theaters so maybe I'm wrong, but I remembered liking them.

No boomers literally got filtered by trade federations and tariffs. Jar Jar was just 3PO. Sad that his role was cut
Honestly I kinda hate all the jedi shit in star wars, I prefer the general world outside the movies.
Actually amazing how baby'a 1st political commentary filtered boomers

what's a clairvoyant space wizard to do??

>Where's The People vs Kathleen Kennedy?
it will never be made the gen x and boomer fricking morons love the Disney sequels.
the prequels were shit but why did gen x manchildren have such an enormous meltdown over them they were just movies
