I thought the entire point of Lobo was that his race of people were normalish In behavior and Lobo was an outlier that decided to kill them for fun.

The superman annual makes it seem like they are all bloodcrazed warrior biker dudes but that can also just be them insane from being trapped by braniac

Calling it now: they'll retcon Lobo so he isn't the most evil Czarnian, but the nicest. The genocide of his people will be revealed to have been a misguided attempt to spare the cosmos an eternity of suffering at the hands of his people.

He'll still be an butthole, of course. But by his race's standards, he'll be a moral paragon.

Ms. Tribb wasn't talking to Lobo in that panel. However, Lobo actually has four parents: a mother, a father, a fother, and a mather.

Didn't Giffen retcon Lobo's origin to this all the way back in that 2000s R.E.B.E.L.S. revival? Then Starlin ran with it in his New 52 Stormwatch run. This has been Lobo's staus quo for nearly two decades now.

The point of Lobo used to be parody too but most of you idiots like him unironically so glass houses OP.

Imo what makes the Grant and Griffin stuff so good is that it's parody without being ashamed of or hating what you're parodying. I could be wrong since I've never read any interviews about that series, but when reading the actual comic the parody doesn't come off as nasty or trying too hard to actively shit on something. Nothing wrong with loving Lobo unironically.

        >I could be wrong
Yeah you are because Lobo was not love letter to the type of character Lobo was parodying.

Well then they failed because the series is great as a parody and an unironic loveletter to those types of characters.

Yeah yeah I've heard that parroted before but it doesn't hold up. His comics are too fun for that point to matter in the long run.

You can enjoy the Lobo comics but enjoy them for what they are which is a satire on sophomoric machismo.

I enjoy it for what it is. I just don't understand what is bad about liking a satirical character unironically.
              >Sophomoric machismo
That's not inherently bad though it's just a thing that exist and they did it well with Lobo.

Um no? I just think Lobo is funny and I don't think it's necessary to hate the comics he's a parody of to enjoy his unapologetic machismo.

                But it's not unapologetic.

But it is. The series never tries to shame the reader for liking lobo. It's satire but it's not biting it's tongue in cheek.

I guess there's nothing stoping you from liking Lobo unironically but there's a good chance what you like most about Lobo is that layer of irony because an unironic Lobo is a nerfed Lobo.
Which is something that is so contrary to the expected that it really needs its own word to describe it.

You can't have it both ways here guys. Either Lobo is a joke or his character history is sacrosanct and not to be changed.
