this just makes even less sense
if this were the case he would be "Blood Plasma Man" and he'd be red from all the proteins that got no water in them to release

Or he would die immediately since the membrane is what keeps the viruses out of a cell most of the time.

dumb comic book shit doesnt need to be explained. man turns to water man, leave it at that.

Or he would die immediately since the membrane is what keeps the viruses out of a cell most of the time.

That's the problem with going too in-depth with the superpower explanations. If you know anything about science, they usually just lead to further questions.

This. Plus who even needs to explain why his or Sandman's clothes also turn into their element.

I think the idea is that he or Sandman just shapeshift the element that makes up their bodies into clothes. Their clothes are part of them.

Obviously his superpower is to store water in the hammerspace in his proteins. The hammerspace connects to the water dimension.

This is sort of the problem with a lot of speculative fiction. The more you explain something the more you only call attention to how weird it actually is when people actually know how this shit works. It's why so many other super hero origins were some vague radiation blast and then they called it a day.

It is unnecassary since they could've just done "Yeah Hydro-man's water is actually just his blood but it acts like water" or some stupid shit like that

    What is this from?
It only makes doing this within a comic, and for reasons that tie into the story.
Doing this outside of a comic, like in some kind of guide or encyclopedia is silly.

Sometimes, the best explanation is literally "It's just a show/comic/movie/whatever".

I like autistic shit like this, because it means at least somebody in the company asked themselves the question "how does this work exactly?"

      >Wants to autistically examine and explain how favorite characters' powers work as part of a fanfic
      >Gets hung up on the terminology for it because doesn't want it to be used incorrectly despite this being a fictional setting
Annoying when I try to write.

I like it because I'm a biology geek. And also I'm just really autistic and a sucker for super detailed worldbuilding. I own a book about the ecosystems of various planets from Star Wars, it's a similar sort of concept.

Because comic guys are autistic and will write accordingly. This is why adaptations simplify this shit so the general audience doesn’t think the whole thing’s moronic like they do with the comics.

I never really thought of him actually turning the power off and being a regular ol human when in human form. I always just sort of took him as water that is really good at looking like a regular guy.

Kind of the same thing with Sandman

It's just for fun. Sure that's not real science but trying to come up with a somewhat grounded explanation for superpowers helps with the immersion. At least for some, because that way you can imagine people in real life having them. Also I don't think this book is canon and is more of a 3rd person speculation.
