SU generally had pretty good voice direction with a few glaring exceptions. Pearl's delivery was definitely a standout though. Pink/Rose also had really great delivery, but she didn't get to speak all that much.

Ruby's VA had some pretty rough delivery sometimes, and Garnet although I love her normal voice also flubbed on the delivery from time to time. I think those are the most immediate cases I can think of 99% of the voice acting and delivery was top-notch.
If sounding autistic and bad was intentional, then Ruby's VA nailed it. It was only made worse and more noticeable when they made her voice different Rubies with different deliveries, which she wasn't really able to do too well.
The first time I heard Garnet's voice I thought her VA was Danish due to how weird her accent gets.
Yeah it was definitely the other Rubies that she was rougher with. She was pretty good as the main one.
Also shoytout to Blue Diamond's VA, her accent was lovely and she nailed that soft voice flawlessly. Really made her character.
She was also really good in Song of the Sea where she voices the mom and sings and stuff.
There were times where even Garnet’s singing sounded kind of off. Sometimes I think they don’t how to write songs to suit certain actors/actresses. Yellow Diamond sounded bad in her song too, and isn’t she some broadway star?
They made a point of getting three singers for the Diamonds, but yeah she sounded kinda weird. Even though the song is fine.
I thought it was kind of implied that the song was supposed to sound off-putting on purpose. Blue Diamond's song was post-Future, so it sounds natural, but What's the Point of Feeling was intended to have clashing harmonies (YD and the Pearls) to give it an alien-like quality.
You're not wrong, but she also doesn't sing it well. The discordant harmonies are fine, great even, but Lupone's delivery felt unusually flat. Check out some of her stuff on youtube for comparison, that woman can fricking smash notes.
I listened to it again, and I realize that my memory of it was fricked up because I listened to a dude doing a cover of it. I see what you mean about her delivery being weird at points.
Yellow Diamond's VA was clearly not comfortable singing that song, her high note is flat as shit. And she IS a broadway singer, an incredibly famous one who's known for fricking nailing notes, so I think it was just a bad fit for her.
In contrast, Blue Diamond's song was absolutely delightful and fit her perfectly.

The blue one, while hot, actually has one of the worst personalities out of the whole cast, and is widely considered the worst gem. Don't get me wrong, I'd frick the shit out of her, but she's a bit of a c**t.

Def a standout performance. I don't think voicework is typically something Deedee's interested in pursuing, but it would be nice to get another motherly character from her in a show that's less of a dumpster fire.

I believe she's just always done plays/musical theater, so unfortunately you can't really find songs or an artist label
She was in a band called the Party. She used to do voice work and sing songs for a bunch of Disney stuff, like an Aladdin show and shit. She was also in a production of Mamma Mia where she played Meryl Streep, and sang/voiced Jasmine.
