I thought the story of this manga was they were searching for the One Piece treasure. there's nothing about that or any sort of conflict in the trailer. it's just "I wanted to be a pirate so now I'm a pirate the end". doesn't seem very interesting.
It's an adventure story. The One Piece is just the background driver but it's not relevant for 99% of the story, most people in universe don't even believe it really exists. Only now, 25 years later, the search for the One Piece has actually become relevant in the manga

Every character has their own inciting incident, everyone is in on in this for their own personal reasons. Zoro wants to become the best Swordman in the world because he promised to his childhood friend who died in an accident. Usopp wants to be a great adventurer because his father left him as a child and his mother died of illness and he told lies to cope that he wants to turn into reality. Sanji almost starved to death as a child that's why he became a chef and wants to make sure nobody ever dies of starvation. Nami was abused and used ever since she was a child because FishBlack folk took her village hostage and she is good at drawing maps. The point is they all want to be the best in what they do and Luffy helps them in one way or another and that's why they grow together. As for Luffy he is inspired by a pirate who saved his life as a kid, sacrificing his arm while doing so and the Straw Hat is a gift from him

nah, you just have shit taste. BB is a great antagonist. He doesn't have to be overwhelmingly powerful or cool to be so. He doesn't have to be infallible until the hero fights him. He just has to be an opposing force to the protagonist and that's what he is. Essentially the "dark Luffy". Someone who values dreams, except instead of bumbling through life he's done so by making calculated moves.
Most main antagonists are just generically evil and are only in that role because they're the strongest villain therefore the hero has to be the one to beat them, but they don't really have anything to do with the hero.
It's why my other favorites are Toguro and Sensui from YYH because they actually push the protagonist to make tough decisions or reassess their beliefs and are basically what they could be if they took a different path
The problem is, now that Oda introduced Imu and made him such a big deal, BB has started feeling more like a rival while the WG side feels like the actual main villain.

It's the logical progression of his "failing upwards" arc that started in Impel Down, makes for great character development by forcing him to confront and defy his sniveling and cowardly nature, and most important of all: it's goofy and fun. OP is goofy and fun or it's not OP.
One Piece is just bad anime to begin with. But more importantly, what's this obsession of trying to do live action anime anyway? It's a fools errand if you ask me. Anime is what it is based on absurd reactions and feats, which is lost in translation when a real actor is trying to bring it to life.
