I’m glad most of the replies to that braindead tweet from the show runner are shitting on him.
Hughie saw his ex gf get ran over by a supe. Homelander is basically the same level of threat when it comes to him vs starlight. Is it now toxic masculinity to feel the innate instinct to protect those you love? This’ll be forgotten in like 2 weeks but god damn this show is fricking annoying sometimes.

But Hughie had one (1) scene saying the powers felt good which in The Boys means you're bad.
There is also the fact there's no reason to not want to have powers, Compound V has no drawbacks and only some of them like the psychic guy in the last episode suck, sure, but Starlight just gets to be hyper strong and control electricity but "uhhhh it's actually a huge burden Hughie I wouldn't want this on anyone you know".
Which is one of the biggest problems these "superheroes are uh.... bad??!" shows have. Why would someone not want to have powers?

My only counterpoint is that Starlight is completely fricking worthless and far, far less powerful even than the low level C-list jobbers we’ve seen.

It can straight up kill you. That's the reason they're pumping it into newborns, they have a much higher survivability rate than adults

      Even then,
      Even if he's just like:
      >"I want powers too. Because homelander is fricking gunning for me now, And outing him like you're doing is painting a bigger target on you and me"
      >"Also, My boss can pop peoples heads with her mind"

Sure, Selfish for him to want to Not get killed by pissed off supes? Theres plenty of reasons for Hughie to want to take tempV.
And starlight could be concerned that taking an untested superdrug could kill him, Plus addiction plus all that.
She could be all "Hughie i don't want you to die and i want you to be safe, this stuff aint safe"
and he could be all "Neither's being around you!" or some shit cause he's coming down or high or whatever.

Women want drama in their relationship, so they imagine shit and project it and blame the man.

TV shows can't acknowledge this so they just go along with blaming the man.

Yes. but him having powers to do it would make her feel less special.

I noticed this straight away when I saw it also. Imagine everyone in "The Boys" take a dose of permanent v in order to dispose of Homelander. I think it's very reasonable considering some of these supes live longer than 100 years.
