I find it hilarious that you mention that because it's been a known criticism of TLA so what Bryke did is just go at it with the speed of light in LoK where Korra is just bouncing around relationships going on and off after every chapter or so. The worst part was the unnecessary toxic anger between them that never gets resolved throughout the last season when they just kiss in the finale instead because the show was about to end. So much relationship buildup since the first episode when Aang was simping for her as soon as he woke up and all the writers fricked it up as badly as they could.

It’s only from “The Ember Island Players” where Aang whines about Katara not being with him after he kissed her in “Day of Black Sun”, trying to kiss her again, and getting angrily rejected. It’s not like Katara suddenly hated Aang. But just jumping straight to the kiss at the end made it look like they skipped a lot. Also it didn’t help that there was a lot of Zutara teasing in between; the finale was basically the Zutara dream ending (they team up, save each other, touching moment, Aang nowhere in sight).
