I was never aware of this 'lovers' rumor, although I have been told that Spock encountered it several times. Apparently, he had always dismissed it with his characteristic lifting of his right eyebrow, which usually connoted some combination of surprise, disbelief, and/or annoyance. As for myself, although I have no moral or other objections to physical love in any of its many Earthly, alien, and mixed forms, I have always found my best gratification in that creature woman. Also, I would not like to be thought of as being so foolish that I would select a love partner who came into sexual heat only once every seven years.

It’s funny how Roddenberry was seemingly into the idea of Kirk and Spock being gay for each other, and that was fifty years ago, whole modern Star Trek (despite its pozzedness) is doing everything it can to make Spock as heterosexual and himbo as possible. Hacks.

That's probably because Roddenberry was a moronic perverted hack and Star Trek was great in spite of, and not because him. I mean, imagine if we actually had to deal with his moronic utopian communism and inability to understand male friendships in the run of TNG and beyond. It would basically be a cadre of modern writers teleported back in time.

Those are his characters and his world that he himself envisioned. I’m getting tired of this

He arranged them in a way that was successful and spawned an enormous lasting franchise. That requires talent.
Think of all the forgotten tv shows. Without Gene, there’d be no Star Trek.

So much talent that he had to rewrite the entire cast after one episode!
His talent was for production, not writing

Are you seriously trying to say that Roddenberry’s creative ideas had nothing to do with Star Trek’s success?

Most of the great ideas were made by DC Fontana and Gene Coon

In the case of Roddenberry, he got pushed out of having enough enough influence in TOS, to the point where he basically considered it and the TOS movies non-canon to his vision. Then TNG's rocky start is when Roddenberry was more involved in the show.

I met Gene back when I used to work for the United States Government. We smoked some reefer and I told him about my classified work on UFOs. I said “Don’t let anybody tell you they aren’t out there Gene. They Are.” He thought that was wild. He said we should make a show about it and I said “why not call it Star Trek?” and the rest is history…

Rodenberry- while being a creative powerhouse at the time- was also a deranged sex addict and I wouldn't exactly look up to him on that topic. I would rather go by what Shatner and Nimoy gave the characters, and they're straight. Shatner has spoken out about this and stated that they're simply friends.

Kirk/Spock makes NuTrek writers seethe for some reason, and you’d be hard-pressed to find out who’s not a Democrat.

Why seethe? I don't watch new trek so I figured they would have shown support?

Why you ask? Because it’s a remnant of Old Trek and the Old Trek fandom, and they hate both of these things.

when you have a deviant population that wants mainstream acceptance, they latch onto anything that the mainstream likes and sully it with their bullshit.

when the english language wanted mainstream acceptance, it latched onto latin and swore it was derived from latin (it wasn't).

the nazis latched onto the swastika and, well, look how that ended for the swastika.

gay people have latched onto a whole bunch of shit: rainbows, bert & ernie, the wizard of oz, disney theme parks, this shit.

sadly, it's a go-to tactic for deviant groups that works fairly well.

The best bro-chemistry in any Trek.
TOS is campy with dated cheap effects and at times a little slow but the scenes with McCoy + Kirk + Spock are worth watching even with the bad episodes.
