I was told to only watch the first five seasons. Is that accurate?
I’m on season three and it’s probably my least favorite so far

Dean carries the show
>I was told to only watch the first five seasons. Is that accurate?
no, the first 5 were the best ones but it's still kino
Damn, I heard that from multiple people too. Is there any time where there is a big drop off in quality?
You will know.
I don’t see it mentioned much, but if I recall the first two seasons were like a different show. They keep it pretty relaxed, just bros solving mysteries. At some point after that it’s all staring off with a tear in the eye and saying “I-I’m just not sure I can trust you anymore”. If you get to 5 I don’t see a reason to stop though
i'm only on season 4 of my first watch and i'm starting to see how every storyline will play out. still enjoying it though
>I-I’m just not sure I can trust you anymore
SHES A DEMON SAMMEH
>Damn, I heard that from multiple people too.
Because redditors like repeating themselves. S6-7 are a dip in quality compared to 1-5 but then it picks up again.
I forget which season, but when they introduce the Leviathan, I believe. It's fairly bad.
There's never really a big drop off. Supernatural heavily fluctuates between seasons (although it never gets better than 5). Such is the case in a lot of these TV Series where each episode is a different plot. Sometimes you might have a bunch of kino monster of the week episodes in a season but the overarching storyline might be dogshit. Or sometimes it's the complete opposite.
I'd say that the worst seasons are probably Season 6, Season 7, Season 14 and by far the biggest piece of shit is Season 13
What’s bad about 13?
The episodes
Damn, that was the only reason I was watching the show for....
Ah frick I meant 12. The one where they bring back Sam and Dean's mum and there's all that fricking multiverse bullshit. Complete dogshit.
the problem is that the worst season of the show is 6, you see? after 5 seasons of kino you are hit with a brick wall, you have to bust down the wall to get a massage of 7 into a good 8, before taken back into the kino of 9 and 10 - after which point (for those who used to watch) that was 10 years of investment by then, and series fatigue sets in.
the next 5 is like, "so there's more to see I guess" not to say they aren't pretty good, but everything you saw up to that point was stellar and has resolved, and you have a new cast roation by then and such ect ect
ironic that season 15 is the end, because in real life they all kinda went "ok, lets just end it" covid19 china virus stuff ect. just put it out to pasture boys it's been 15 years bros.
I'm so disappointed by the Season 15 finale. I get COVID but the fact that almost every major character was missing sucked.
It would be pure kino if they made a Supernatural movie just to give the fans a proper send off. They've already brought back Heaven Dean in that shitty Winchester's show so it wouldn't be that big of a deal to bring them out of Heaven for some big fight.
>Jack meets with Sam & Dean because for whatever reason his god power is faultering
>They figure out it's because Chuck's god power can't just be passed around willy nilly
>They have to figure out what's going on
>End of the movie is that they find out Chuck's been alive the whole time
>Turns out Chuck isn't cringe le bad guy who can lose by punching someone but is actually God-tier and all knowing and all powerful
>The show and his fake death has all just been to groom Sam and Dean so one of them (or both) can be the new God (maybe one of them has to be the new devil)
>Movie ends with Dean and/or Sam becoming the new God
I think it would be kino and would retcon how much of a jobber God is in the show.
This is cringe beyond belief sorry.
I'm sorry anon. Jack is okay but he's not that cool
woosh
Can't we just turn season 6-15 into a bad dream and just let Sam and Dean's kids be the next generation of hunters who search for their parents exploring different myths and religion like egyptian ones. You can't one up the original Lucifer vs Michael in scope and thematic content. Lord knows they tried hard. They defied their own destiny. Let it stay that way. No more defeatist bullshit media where they have to become god or some other shit instead of embracing their humanity.
That show already got cancelled. I've never seen any show try so hard with spinoffs. Might be time to give it a rest.
I will say making Supernatural into an anime wasn't the worst idea ever. Just needed better direction and less splashiness.
There's some good episodes post S5, but it's just not worth it. Every season post 5 gets worse and worse.
You miss out on Crowley if you don't watch the rest.
>You miss out on Crowley if you don't watch the rest.
Also god, death (not billy, sheboon sucks monkeydick) and entire castiel saga.
Basically all of it is worth it, later season bring couple of wokefiesta episodes and some Black folk but if you skip those, its great.
God damn it why did you remind me about Billie. How the FRICK did they go from the absolute greatness of the og Death to an obnoxious sheboon girlboss? Frick man.
OG death had his great introduction in the first 5 seasons, every appearance afterwards with the OG actor was coasting hard on that initial impression, because the scripts were much worse.
This. Crowley is top tier and he steals every scene.
Until they flanderize him and literally leave him alive for no reason, despite him killing off tons of great characters. All because fans like him.
frick Crowley
Only season 7 is offensively bad. Season 3 is weak because it was during the writer's strike.
Did you watch it when it was airing?
Idk maybe I'm moronic but Season 7 is one of my favorites past first 5 seasons, but I can see someone seethe after ending of season 6 was hype and got immediately resolved unsatisfyingly. I just marathoned season 6 and then to 7 and didn't have to wait a year to finally see how it would resolve.
I hate it because it's the season that killed Bobby.
Not that anon but I don’t remember season 7 being that bad besides using some ambitious cgi for the leviathans. For me season 8 and 9 are the worst seasons. They just blend together for me, all I remember is lots of angel war shit
>season 8 and 9 are the worst seasons. They just blend together for me
You can add 10 to that as well
I actually really liked 10. Or at least more than 6-9. Demon Dean was kino and the fight scene with Cain is one of my favorites
For me s6 was the weakest one because it had the new showrunner and ever single person acts out of character. Season 7 isn't stellar but I thought the first half of the season was decent then some of the end bits were weak.
I liked the monster angle in season 6, the alphas and all that, also had a darker feel to it than most seasons, somehow felt more like seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5.
I like the idea of the alphas thing but it was made into a wet fart. The 'dragons' were just some dudes and Mother was meh. I liked the episode when Bobby realizes he was friends with a supernatural being for ages and never knew though.
I'll agree with the dragons being shit, vampire alpha episode was quite the kino though, also the season had excellent light hearted episodes too, like ''The french mistake'' and ''Frontierland'' and the according to imdb, to my recollection under appreciated episode ''Unforgiven''.
S1-2 top tier creepy and comfy
S3 less so but still top tier
S4-5 good for finishing the big story arc but the angel shit starts to ruin it
S6 onwards is progressively worse until it becomes a parody of itself. Women and gays love it I guess.
You don’t like the angels?
I only liked Jo, Cass, and Metatron. The rest were annoying.
They completely butchered the angels. It's really sad. When they were first introduced they were huge unfathomable cosmic beings that burned your eyes out if you even looked at them. Then they slowly turned into the same-old generic humanoid mooks who were easily killed by stabbing them in the chest like every other monster in this show.
The angels themselves calling their telepathy "Angel Radio" when talking with each other was really weird too. It's like the writers just gradually gave up trying to depict something interesting. A lot of the later episodes feel like fanfiction more than anything else.
Yes and no. With the introduction of angels the show didnt feel as comfy anymore. The power levels became too much, then later got nerfed in a dumb way.
And Castiel being their guardian angel removed tension.
Frick no. I started a re-watch a year ago and dropped it as soon as the angel bullshit started.
Angels were good but their story should have ended completely by the end of season 5. In s6 they mention the war in heaven and that was a good excuse to just leave them on the back burner for good without having to scale up power levels.
I agree with this, overall. I don't remember disliking the angels part that much but it's been a while.
There is a point where the show fills the seasons with too many "goofy comic relief" episodes and then in the last episodes go completely nuts trying to outdo the previous season endings which makes the next season's first episode incredibly moronic because they try to undo the shit to get the brothers back on the road again.
Dean is definitely the more interesting of the two and better actor by far. Why the frick did he stay on this show so long?
He genuinely loved it. He was pissed that the ending was the way that it was. Jensen Ackles is dangerously based.
Who was the hottest chick in the show?
one of the reapers
i can't remember which one though and i'm afraid i'll literally have to rewatch the show to find out
Jessica?
no, the one i'm thinking of was definitely dark haired
Tess
>reapers
>reapers
or maybe it was one of the crossroads demons
one of the crossroad demons was so hot but such a bad actress that it somehow made her less attractive. the one that Sam shoots like a cold motherfricker
kek i googled this and i agree completely. she is awful. not the one i'm thinking of though.
Absolute PEAK Lauren Cohan.
she was a great character too
I know. I was pissed when she got dragged off to hell.
word on the street was always that they killed her off to appease tumblrinas. man i hope that isn't true
I've got a good gif too, but this site's dumb and doesn't want it posted.
SerpentinePhysicalAustralianshelduck
>but this site's dumb
go back.
You get that got to post here, then. Even the link.
Probably Jo, but Abaddon was pretty hot.
Sarah Shahi
Based opinion and digits. For me, it's Ava
There's no contest really.
>hottest chick was in the pilot
Though Dean's gf in his Djinn fantasy was pretty hot too
>Dean's gf in his Djinn fantasy
oh my goodness, she is lovely
she did not age well though
Sam's fling while Dean was in purgatory. Greek looking chick
Hannah. She's now retired but a total Cannuck milf. Erica Carroll. Unf.
She's an antivaxxer too.
i haven't finished the show yet but i remember thinking this chick was really hot
Palicki and Padalecki.
The county British chick.
Probably Abaddon. The actress also played Black Canary on Smallville. Really though there's like three more that are a very close second.
Always had a thing for Anna with Abbadon in second place
This series pandered to my redhead fetish really well
Dean
It's actually for women
Watch up until God and his sister leave. It should have stopped there.
First 5 seasons are a well told story. 6 through 9 are like the filler arcs of a popular shonen. Comfy but insubstantial. 10 and onwards is just a comfy anime about two bros fighting villains. Enjoy it.
3 was weak because originally they intended to end at season 2, but they get their footing for seasons 4/5 and deliver a satisfying conclusion to the expanded storyline. Every season afterwards just feels like they're spinning their wheels, because it's hard to match the stakes of Armageddon.
Angels were a mistake. If you're finding that already, it's all downhill from here.
Grim Beard had a pretty damn good analysis of the first two seasons and was going to do the whole series, but had to stop and take them down because of youtube and WB flagging shit. Luckily, I foresaw that shit well in advance and downloaded the 38 episodes that he had already made.
I read somewhere that it's rumored Jensen Ackles' wife got an actress fired off the show? Anyone else hear about that? Can't remember who it was though
Now that I think about the young version of the Winchester mom was pretty hot too
i just watched that episode last night. i feel like both versions of her look a lot like January Jones
deaN stop bullying ruby shes a good demon I swear
You gotta know when to hold 'em
>this whole fricking season
HOLY SHIT
It's easily the worst. The British chick was hot as frick though.
When did it start looking so soulless? The first seasons look nothing like this
I only saw the first few seasons but randomly caught an episode way later where the entire thing takes place in the car. I get they were using mounted cameras but it seriously was the ugliest episode i've seen
Oh god I had completely forgotten about Ketch lmao. I don’t think I’ve thought of that character a single time since whenever he died
I think I quit from all the super cheese around season 8
my friend told me not to watch it on netflix because they replaced some of the music. is it much of a problem or is it only a few songs?
Season 3 is the shortened one, right? I think that one ended up being my favorite one.
It has Mystery Spot, one of the best episodes in the series.
it's still good but felt like it fell apart near the end
I loved 3. Probably my second favourite season. The feeling of impending doom as time is running out for Dean and they're trying to find a way to stop the hellhounds is pure kino.
You're both right. They have fanservice episodes where they make fun of their gay and female fans that the met at conventions.
>I was told to only watch the first five seasons. Is that accurate?
Yes unless you REALLY like the characters and you have way too much time on your hands.
>I’m on season three and it’s probably my least favorite so far
Season 3 was cut short by the writer's strike so it's a little wonky. 4 and 5 are excellent.
Why Sam look like that
How would you fix Supernatural? For me it's
>end all angel shit at ~s5
>send Castiel back to heaven
>don't kill off Crowley
>use the angel tablet to bind all angels to heaven
>use the demon tablet to bind all demons to hell
>now earth only has to deal with supernatural shit left over from wherever else
>make Sam focus on becoming one of the men of letters instead of a super hunter like Dean
>no MoL batcave
>the only batcave being the one their father made from all of his research and victories
>God stays gone and we never know why
>use other mythologies for the season long arcs
>a season where actually trained people intentionally or accidentally become vampires, making them now a legitimate threat
>make Sam less of a whiney b***h
Yes, stop after season 5. That was the original planned ending before the creators got offered money to keep doing more and it just gets really fricking stupid from then on. Season 5 ending is kino.
>stop watching because of the meme answer
No.
no it's not... don't be intimidated by a predominantly female fanbase. shit's cringe, as the kids would say
>the first Horseman is Pestilence
When will this end?
Cheer up
>Sammy no!
>Dean...since losing my soul I've come to realise an objective truth...vampires, demons and werewolves...they only kill a few people a year...
>The real monster Dean...is Black folk...those damn Black folk commit majority of the violent crime...they kill more people than the demons, vampires and werewolves combined! We need to wipe them all out Dean...
>pulls the cum straight outta your dick
>"heh heh, nothing personnel kid"
if the first episode isn't clear enough warning that its shit then there's no hope for you. just watch it all.
1-5 enjoyable writing (mostly?)
6+ schlock with some funny moments and a meg redemption arc where she becomes a cute
i thought the original meg was really cute. too bad she died in real life recently
sovl
I’ve always heard the finale is fricking horrible and rushed
Season 5 was originally intended to be the final season and after that the original showrunner left to work on other projects.
It has it's moments over the next 10 seasons but their efforts to top the previous season get more and more silly.
Only season one is decent.
>I’m on season three and it’s probably my least favorite so far
That was the one where the showrunner decided to switch the atmosphere and color scheme for a season. Also the writer's strike happened and the season got cut short. Still good I will say. The sense that shit is gonna come down is felt every episode and it gets worse.
>I was told to only watch the first five seasons. Is that accurate?
Yeah. The show has a sort of MCU like post credits scene but it's easy to imagine that everything went according to plan there. Without spoiling you. Everything after shits on all the development of the bros and the sacrifices they made.
Expand the replies to OP before posting just to repeat the same shit.
No, homosexual. I will speak for myself. Die mad.
A SPN thread?
Time for my obligatory “I have Dean’s Leather Coat” post.
I used to watch this every week when it first came out. I stopped after they killed off Jo and Bobby. But also hinted at Bobby being a ghost. I felt like killing them off and bringing people back showed there's zero consequences. I know it's dumb since the show is supernatural and all that. But things didn't have an actual stake anymore.
I am slightly curious to pick up where I left off, but I want to have good memories of the show.
Bobby dies in season 7 and they have mulitple goodbyes to him after that. I don't think he ever actually for realsies comes back though. Doesn't mean they don't bring characters back. They even had the balls to bring back their dead mother and father for some moronic fanservice.
