I've been trying to get a job at a warehouse/store and I can do everything they need, with experience. Forklift, filling propane/anhydrous ammonia, hauling with a gooseneck trailer, warehouse maintaining, and even do remedial shit like overnight stocking and cash register shit but when I go in to speak to a manager they tell me to go online to apply.

I've had 4 jobs in my life and every job I have ever had has been exactly like that
It's the norm but it's stupid as shit, especially when I walk into these businesses and they have help wanted signs up everywhere.
The last few jobs I've had there's been a horrible shortage of employees but they refuse to hire people good for the job, instead of paying 16-20 an hour for someone with a good history and experience they instead hire literal morons fresh out of highschool with no experience or work ethic so they can get away with paying 12-14 an hour, then act surprised when those people either suck at the jobs they were hired for, or call in sick 3 days a week.
every plumber/mechanic/cook i know is constantly asking me if i know any people who'd like to apprentice. the last three times i've had causal chats with airport workers they'd practically begged me to tell anyone i know to apply for a job - they can't handle the amount of work that's thrown at them and management has trouble finding applicants. west european trucking companies have hoovered eastern europe dry of drivers and are still shortstaffed - you don't even need a commercial drivers license: they pay you to get one as long as you sign a two year contract with them. there's a bunch of small factories in my town that have closed down because of a lack of workers. anyone who shows up with two working arms and two working legs at their local forestry company can get a job immediately.
if you want a comfy job as an hr diversity manager or digital marketing coordinator - yeah those jobs are basically welfare and there's stiff competition. being a doctor or civil engineer takes the right degrees. but any job where you work with your hands and that doesn't require an advanced degree - you can get that on the spot pretty much anywhere in europe. don't bother with online cvs and shit - just knock on the door and ask.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they just told me, the online is just a formality, which a Tractor Supply store did tell me before, I had already been hired but they said in order to "legitimize" it they needed an online application for me, which fine whatever, the problem is that all the other times I'll ask around if the store if they're hiring and I'm told yes, they are desperate for all the help they can get and I play along and apply online they never get back to you.
The only way it seems to get them to call you back is to outright lie about everything from how much you'd like to be paid to what your experience is.
Next time I apply I'm going to put down the minimum wage under desired salary just to see if they actually call back. I think it's $7.25 an hour here.

Unironically there should be more classes for that in highschool. In 8th grade I had a class that taught you how to keep a checkbook/register and gave us assignments on how what to buy, how to budget, and told us to create a goal and how we would budget that goal and how long it would take to achieve it.
