I watched Napoleon so you don't have to

It was boring and the only person there besides me and my friend was an 80 year old dude, the theater was completely empty.

It's much worse than boring. You and I were fed absolute shit for two and a half hours. Every scene was an insult to intelligence and human dignity from start to finish.

I don't get this. To me the film portrayed him as a strategic savant but with human flaws.
He was not an aristocrat, and very well could have been crass.
I don't get why people act like the film made him look like a fool, legitimately. He seemed pretty clever to me - in his battle tactics, his participation in political scheming, and his ability to inspire troops.
The times he was a "fool" were his actual foolish plays in real life (Russia for example), and when dealing with his wife. Even that was not played how I expected - I was expecting wall-to-wall dick and height jokes or some shit, but they instead portrayed a complicated relationship of two people who loved each other and were at times awful to each other. And if you're not allowed to act goofy to your wife when can you act goofy?

I went in expecting the film to be "haha are you COMPENSATIMG for something?" But it wasn't that, aside from one (1) early sex scene.

        >taking the word of people here for any movie

That was your first mistake. It's not as offensive as it was portrayed to be and Napoleon's life story is impossible to capture in one movie so the focus on his pretty captivating relationship with Josephine was a good idea for a movie but the title should have reflected that. Kirby was hot and pure waifu material so I enjoyed myself. Napeoleon being turned to a literally me character was good and the cuck shit wasn't so bad cause he was genuinely outraged and made her submit and apologize. If it was truly 'woke' he'd accept it and be heckin cool with it.

Except he was you fricking idiot, and so were most of the people he grew up with either in his family or at the military academy

No he wasn't you idiot. He grew up as a peasant with good connections. That's why he wasn't killed during the french revolution.

He wasn't a peasant. He was lower middle class. No peasants joined the best millitary academy of France.

Good luck explaining that to historylets, they believe people were either peasants diving in mud or rich as frick aristocrats, no middle class.

            >His paternal ancestors, the Buonapartes, descended from a minor Tuscan noble family that emigrated to Corsica in the 16th century and his maternal ancestors, the Ramolinos, descended from a minor Genoese noble family.[18] His parents Carlo Maria Bonaparte and Maria Letizia Ramolino maintained an ancestral home called "Casa Bonaparte".
            >In 1769 Carlo Bonaparte began working for the new French government and in 1777 was named representative of the island to the court of Louis XVI
            >His maternal grandmother had married into the Swiss Fesch family in her second marriage, and Napoleon's uncle, the cardinal Joseph Fesch, fulfilled a role as protector of the Bonaparte family for some years. Napoleon's noble, moderately affluent background afforded him greater opportunities to study than were available to a typical Corsican of the time

That's bullshit, every single Roman historian, when describing Germanic tribes points at how different from Romans they are, how they get burnt in the sun etc. etc.

It was shit and clear gay anglo propaganda but I really fricking enjoyed it and thought it was entertaining. I haven't stopped thinking about Vanessa Kirby ever since, if nothing else it's believable Napoleon would be so obsessed with her. She's such a royal cutie. I'm in love.

She needs to play a Bond girl ASAP. I know her role in MI is like that and she falls in love with Cruise immediately but man she's a Xenia Onatopp 2.0 waiting to happen. Would awaken zoomer kids to heterosexuality.

Doubt they'll hire a pure, fair European ever again as a Bond girl.. I hope the series dies already.

Why have big breasts in the movie if you're not going to rip them out of their bodice? Why have (an utterly bizarre) Basic Instinct flash scene and not actually show it? The movie showed utter contempt for the audience and was an insult from start to finish.

      5 seconds of Egypt
that bit of Austerlitz on the frozen lake
      a small Cossack ambush
      10 seconds of Borodino
      Waterloo gets 20 minutes

    >Napoleon was suffering from stomach cancer at the time of Waterloo
    >He was 48, three years away from his death
    >Reportly had to retire to his tent frequently because of his pain and difficulty eating
The movie shows him charging into battle personally. A 48 year old man with terminal cancer. Yeah right.
