I watched The Departed for the first time and maybe I'm just stupid or something but until like 45min into the movie I didn't realize Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon were two different people. So it seemed to me like the movie was about Leonardo DiCaprio being some kind of weird double agent playing both sides and snitching on himself to both the FBI and the mob. And I was struggling to figure out what the frick is his end game? What does he gain from this? Who is he really working for?
At the scene where Frank Costello tears the cast off DiCaprio's character's arm and injures it again I was like what the frick, he was just at the FBI office without his cast, is he pretending to be injured as part of a disguise? Why does he have facial hair now? Are these flashbacks? Is this not happening in the same continuity as the main plot where he works for the feds? It was not until the scene where the FBI is surveiling the warehouse deal and you see Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon in different places simultaneously that I realized they were two different people. I swear Martin Scorcese must have done this shit intentionally just to frick with people.

The Departed > Infernal Affairs
Wrong
HK in doing business with China with the ChiCom breathing down their necks is ingenuously captured as a double agent's experience. It's an amazing expression of losing your identity to China forever and the torture of betraying your own kind, which ended up happening since 2000 anyway. All this they couldn't say openly.
I'm sure Scorcese made the movie just to confuse you specifically, anon.
I always confused Matt damon with Mark Wahlberg
yeah this makes sense its especially confusing cause both are in Departed but I don't understand mixing up Leo and Matt, their stories were similar but they dont look alike at all
they both have that irish face
It's the same for me. All white people look alike to me
You are either very stupid or you are a troll (and also very stupid).
Why did Leo shoot Matt at the end though?
You should watch Infernal Affairs, not just to make the comparisons, its pretty much beat for beat with Departed
But because Infernal Affairs 2 is fricking incredible
If this guy can’t tell DiCaprio from Damon are different characters how the frick do you expect him to keep track when they’re all Chinese?
He's probably a chink himself
Don’t feel too bad. I used to get them confused, too.
You also see them pass each other outside the office where they meet Dignam.
Get a test to see if you're faceblind, it's the only way I can explain mixing up Di Caprio with Damon.
My vision is pretty shit to be fair
But also your viewing comprehension. Like they have different names. There’s a scene at the beginning where Matt Damon walks out of Martin Sheen’s office and passes Leo on the way. Like you’re legitimately moronic.
not that guy but why the name calling?
1. Have you been to the eye doctor recently?
2. What race are you? (for research purposes)
Kino

You can drop your doubts, friend.
Are you fricking moronic?
