If I have an actual criticism of this show and not just whining about dumb bullshit, it's that they do the thing a lot of TV shows like to do these days where they've got multiple main characters with their storylines running concurrently, which is not necessarily a problem but it hurts the pacing of the show when they just suddenly cut to some other dude's plot partway through the first episode instead of having the viewer's first exposure to the surface world be at the same time as Lucy's. I feel like if you must have multiple protagonists, it's better to focus on one character at a time, and have the entire episode be dedicated to that character, instead of jumping around constantly.

Everything you consider whining is legitimate criticism, you're in denial and need to develop better tastes if you want people to respect you.

Criticism focused on how Oh no, she kisses the black guy, and how her eyes are too big, is indeed just whining about dumb bullshit actually.

Why? black people are unpleasant and she is ugly. Fixing those issues would make the show better.

Because anyone who isn't a moron should be judging media on it's own merits of writing itself free from your own personal political/religious/social/ideological biases.
Imagine if the 7th Seal or Godfather or Yojimbo or some other great movie used dogs instead of humans as the actors on screen but every other aspect of the movie was the exact same, would you now say that the movie is suddenly shit?
The plot's the same, dialogue the same, cinematography the same, everything the same, surely you wouldn't just say it's bad now and just write off everything you liked about it just because it uses dogs now.
You might personally dislike the choice artistically or even think there was some agenda behind it, but if the core of the movie is what you liked, you'd still like the movie.
Your personal like or aversion to the style or casting of the movie shouldn't be anything other than a surface level dislike that won't cloud your enjoyment or hate of something.

      Black folk/troons/women are the same.
If when the LOTR movies came out they were literally all Black folk and no whites, I'd personally dislike that choice and view it as a negative stylistically and aesthetically, however if the plot/dialogue/cinematography and everything else was the exact same I would literally still love the movie because the core of it is still there, the central aspects of the narrative are still present and that's all that should matter.
Good visuals and casting are always a positive, however personal dislikes never take away from my overall experience.

The multiple plotlines are necessary, without them neither the vault not the Brotherhood would be fleshed out if it was just from Lucy's perspective.

It doesn't help when they offer up garbage like Maximus as a protagonist. The actor has no charisma, the character couldn't get laid in a prostitute house with a fistful of twenties, and he's just plain fricking boring.

the brotherhood of steel guy is one of the most unlikable characters in recent memory, the show has a lot of weird decisions with its shots, the show at times feels like a theme park that just needs to get to the next attraction rather than tell a story or let the characters grow, the meta line about side quests was cringe. those are most of my complaints about it just as a show, not attached to the games
attached to the games? i think it is boring and lazy to literally nuke the semblance of civilization that grew in order to ensure everyone lives like medieval peasants so they can intermingle ideas between fallout and elder scrolls

that might be blowing the load early then if you only have eight episodes and have to play catch up with the later season episodes. plenty of shows do an A - B plotline progression and the reason they feel so smooth usually is because of proper time allocation.

No. that's what TWD did. They would dedicate 1 episode to 1 storyline, it made it to where you had to wait for 2-4 episodes to come back to that original storyline. People hated this.
I think it's much better to weave multiple stories into a single episode. If done properly it can flow very smoothly.

I just miss the NCR, man. It's bad enough that they were offscreened but to die at the hands of Vault-Tec like 200 years after their supposed relevancy expired? I honestly would have preferred the Legion overrunning them, at least that would have felt a little less contrived.

I don't think she'll be that welcome back in vault 33 when she pops back in. A common theme in Fallout is the vault dweller being banished after being on the surface so long. Maximus is...what? His journey is to bumble around and almost get publicly executed for his idiocy. And his troony friend almost gets him killed through a stupid promotion gambit that fails anyway.

Lucy the Frog's journey is to find her dad. Okay. Found. Ohhh, now her dad's EVIL. At least she's more hardened now.

If you’re actually expecting shows to display your idea of extreme “basedness” then you can’t watch ANYTHING, because ***literally nothing will be that extreme.*** You have to LITERALLY be moronic to expect a TV show made for general audiences to display the extremist values of the fricking KKK

What you SHOULD be looking for is simply a higher level of quality. THAT is a fair barometer to look for. And there’s a lot of bullshit out there that is absolutely trash, like Disney Marvel capeshit.

Which is why it’s so significant when a show with ACTUAL quality comes along. Like Fallout. I was legitimately shocked by how well written and well performed it was. I had almost forgotten what “quality” felt like on screen.

If you want an example of a “woke” garbage show, watch fricking She-Hulk on Disney Plus. Or any number of other dumpster fire shows.

And you know what? Compared to shows that are ACTUALLY woke, Fallout was NOT woke. It wasn’t preachy, it didn’t promote any political narrative, and it wasn’t pushing ideology or “the Message.”

All it did was focus on telling a fricking story. Three interwoven stories, in fact, following incredible and unique and original characters that genuinely grab your interest. And it’s been a while since I’ve seen anything, especially in modern times, that JUST cared about telling a story.

So if you want to miss out on it because six or seven schitzo autists sperging on Cinemaphile told you to, that’s fine. But just know that you’re being an absolute dumbfrick to listen to them rather than form your own opinion, and that you’re missing out on a legitimately great show.

You are arguing that the character lucy should be pregnant by default, or that pregnancy should be a core theme of the show? I'm sorry, could you please highlight the post where you explained this well? I re read the thread but must have missed the post with a fully formed thought in it

No, I’m saying if yo user going to make that a main aspect of their personality you better be prepared to actually deal with that issue in a realistic way. It’s called writing your character and developing them, if you cannot do it or it’s something you don’t want to deal with then don’t make it part of their personality or else you’ve ruined your own character from the get go and invented a problem that didn’t exist had you not done that.

It’s already an issue homosexual. Don’t make your main character a sex and breeding obsessed white if you can’t realistically play that out.

No one who has had sex would sperg out like this. The show makes a couple off hand jokes about breeding to explain how the vaults sustain themselves and possibly set up future plot lines.

What kind of moronic real question is this? Do you mean “How old were you in 2016?”? Learn how to speak English, Black person.

I never played the game but I decided to check out the show. I always thought the Brotherhood of Steel had really cool armor. However I have to ask, are they always portrayed as fricking losers? Because the show does not make them look cool at all.

The brotherhood of steel has always been a tech hoarding cult. They might help out a group or settlement but if said settlement had tech they wanted it would be taken by force. They are essentially raiders with a clean shiny coat of paint on them. They aren’t inherently good boys

It's a mixed bag. Each chapter of the BoS are fairly distinct from each other and Fallout has never had a shortage of incompetent stooges. The characters we've been shown are on brand.

The first encounter with the brotherhood is two knights telling the vault dweller to frick off and die on a suicide mission because he’s annoying to them. Fallout 3 is the only one where the chapter is essentially heretical to the core tenants of the faction

It's a Western. The entire point is going between the characters to see how the characters are going to converge and conflict with each other over the object they are all heading towards (the head).

Outside of the first episode the show becomes an absolute slog whenever Goggins isn't the focus, episodes 5-6 were really boring and the finale was kinda meh, but it looks like Goggins will continue to be the focus next season so I have that to look forward too, I guess.
