The series. I've never seen the movies, they're supposed to be good but the show is really good and I don't think 3 movies could do it justice.
i think you should frick off
Thirding
Series, then movies.
my suggestion is always the TV series first and the movies as a refresher.
Flip a coin
Just watch the movies. The show itself is pretty dated and isn’t that far off from 70s super robot shows with enemy of the week garbage. The movies remove all the filler and focus on what’s important: the major characters, themes, and plot points.
you should never post here ever again
go back to r/gundam or wherever you came from
OP please for the love of God never listen to people like this
Watch whatever you want. Are you a child?
i suggest you watch the entirety of laurateen's body of work first
don't worry it's not gonna be a snoozefest
You should stop watching as the WfM was not made with clssic audience in mind but rather tourists who are subconciously attracted to academia and yuri.
So-called "fricked up season 2" is exactly what Gundam quintessentially is about as a series.
I don't understand why people say they want to watch something then watch the least of it
>i want to watch the original gundam
Then watch it
Have you watched other 70's super robot shows? If not, watch the movie trilogy because you will not finish the show.
More detail than provided by other replies:
All of the character development takes places in the TV series, the movies are more like a Cliff's notes version that cut out a lot of the meat along with the fat. If you really do want to get into Gundam, then watching the original series is important in understanding the memes that spawn from it (you'll never hear about Doan's Island or the salt episode, and you'll never see the Gyan in action, among other things).
Afterward, as the other anons say, watch the movies. It is a lot of repeating, but Tomino treats the movies as "canon" and thus of the events that both cover the movies take priority. It's also educational/informative to see what animation studios of that era did when given a chance to do-over their works again.
>But I don't have the time!
Son, if you actually want to watch more Gundam, you'll have to get used to watching multiple 40-50 episode shows. 0079 is essentially the only work in the franchise where you're allowed to ask this question, the rest either don't have compilation movies or they suck ass compared to the show.
People DO have the time they're just moronic
>i don't have time to watch one 20 minute episode a day
>oh but i do have time to scroll through tiktok and twitter for 5 hours
You should watch both
Series first
Then movies
>I want more to watch more gundam preferably without fricked season 2s like witch
Avoid 00 then
>I want more to watch more gundam but tell me how to watch as little gundam as possible
Frick off
ive only seen the movies but do the right thing op series then movies
I watched the original show. It's a little slow, but considering the time it was made you give it some leeway. Imagine it airing it between Hanna Barbara cartoons or some shit, it would blow those kids minds

The 70s may have been a trash time for American animation, but the Japanese stuff can be pretty damn good.
>Space Battleship Yamato
>Space Pirate Captain Harlock
>Danguard Ace
>Voltes V
>Daimos
Granted I've only seen the latter three through the US compilation films but still.
I did the other way around (movies then TV) and thought "wow they cut out a lot of these cool scenes and episodes"
