According to Lucas it does. I understand that people like inserting this grey thing into Star Wars but the author was explicitly against it. Anything aside from the purest light side leads to the dark.
Not that star wars is worth discussing anymore these days, but my impression originally is that the jedi were only the "light" because of semantics. Philosophically, the jedi way or eliminating emotions and attachments would make them grey (as they attempt a neutral path that isn't ruled over by emotions) as "light" would imply proactivity when dark is reactivity.
It may be a flaw in Lucas' own interpretation of these kinds of philosophies but I used to prefer to interpret it as the jedi order's in-setting propaganda.
