They make a frick ton of money, but I wouldn’t say they barely work. Acting seems kinda shit if it wasn’t for the insane pay and celebrity. 15 hour days doing the same few scene over and over and homosexualy strict diets you can’t deviate from seems kinda shit. and that’s assuming you’re actually making good money, most actors don’t make shit. Seems like a shit gig if you’re not a narcissist

They have to study once they get the role (and most actors do have good to great working ethics and dedication in this regard) but during actual filming they spend most of the day dicking around (sometimes literally).
The actual grueling part of acting is fighting for roles, going to casting sessions, making phone calls, ingratiating oneself to directors, being rejected and so on. Even big names go through that with very very rare prestige exceptions (Cate Blanchett for instance)

James McAvoy had a quote from over a decade ago about how current filming schedules basically prevent actors from having a life outside shooting, which then doesn't give them an oppurtunity to be "real people" with lived experiences that inform their acting. Kind of gives perspective about why acting feels so much less personable that it did just 20 years ago, because actors aren't allowed to be people anymore.

          >current filming schedules basically prevent actors from having a life outside shooting, which then doesn't give them an oppurtunity to be "real people"
Interesting remark. You do hear some actors come across as robotic and insincere, not least because woke vigilantism has dumbed down public discourse.
The irony is that this expectation of fake, theatrically inoffensive personas made it less likely that actors are witty or even guarded because there is a populist expectation that they'll be chummy, shallow aw-shucks types.
          >actors aren't allowed to be people anymore.
A considerable amount of their time is now occupied by the social media/internet moneymaking machine, from publicity to pressers (which have increased exponentially since now the media includes more sites/news sources and more countries to take into account).

They want to know and they obsessively follow what's said about them, and here's the thing:very often, it's not the sanitized, heavily censored fansites or reddlt subs they care about, it's places such as Cinemaphile where candid opinions and unbridled sexuality are expressed.
And yes, some actresses/celebs do get aroused about the explicit stuff written about them because they NEED to know that they're desirable.

I'd almost certainly include her as one of those who active follow Cinemaphile along w/ Jenna, Florence Pugh, Emily Ratajkowski, Kiki, Margot Robbie and others because they end up finding out (or being told) about the places that talk about them. Occasionally is a servile fanboy/girl who goes "hey Jenna, these people are talking about you" and then the actress/celeb keeps reading the board.

Taylor swift and Dojo cat both used to post on Cinemaphile, /b/ and /misc/ respectively

Yes. Others have mentioned Cinemaphile in a knowing way, unlike that dumb CNN presenter.

                I see. Here's my experience.
I'd say there is an enormous and surprising difference from average people: actors/celebs are, even at the peak of their fame/looks, VERY insecure-- women celebs even more so.
They want to know how they look, how you look at them, how their peers look and-- incessantly-- what's being said about themselves online.
They take it seriously and both agonize when a weak spot is mentioned and get literally horny when their looks are extolled, even in the dirtiest. most X-rated way.
That explains both Chloe Moretz being traumatized by the pizza photoshop and Margot expressly saying she enjoyed knowing people sexually fetishized her feet.

                Anonymous

depends on the person. most people are insecure about something, but with famous people it will be magnified dramatically.
they are often people who like attention, and maybe they become trapped in a strange bubble world where things are blown out of proportion, but I'd expect lots are fairly normal and just live their lives.
the people I met didn't seem bothered about any of that and instead preferred to be spoken to like a person.

                Anonymous

                >with famous people it will be magnified dramatically.
I would say unfailingly so. Keep in mind I'm specifically talking about ppl also notable for their looks. This has other aspects such as:
-their being surrounded by sycophants which they quickly take for granted and mistrust in terms of giving objective feedback
-the "body positivity" campaign which they actually despise but have to pretend they support
                >they are often people who like attention
Always. They get frustrated if people don't give them acknowledging looks.
This is counterintuitive because the supposed diva don't look at me attitude doesn't really exist: they NEED you to look at them in approval.
                2 quick examples:
                -a very famous American actor in a tourist spot got anxious when people didn't seem to realize who he was and felt relieved and almost grateful when one did;
-another very famous actress was doing a play and in the 1st act she noticed a spectator looking at her character's shoes, which were a bit frayed; during the interval she was so distressed she insisted on having the shoes replaced by newer ones (not part of the original costume).
                These are both actual examples

some seen to escape that, I suppose you wouldn't hear much about them as they prefer to fade into the background when not working.
                perhaps they are the few.
i read something recently, a quote from an actor retelling what he'd been told, "don't worry about people recognising you - be worried if no one recognises you".
i think though that it sounds like magnification, so many eyes on you that your self perception becomes built up from that whole, rather than the few people closest to you.
most people are the result of how they see themselves reflected by others.
if everyone treated Brad Pitt like he was the ugliest duckling in the pond, he'd feel like it and believe it whether he wanted to or not.

Absolutely. And if it's say, a sex symbol, they develop this type of Terminator tech vision to gauge exactly how impressed you feel by their looks.

is that how I could manipulate one of them into being with me - by being unimpressed, or demanding more.
or is that how I would recruit for a sex cult.
i expect that they'd just find it elsewhere, if they really need to be fed in that way.
being recognised for your achievments is a deep goal, so if their achievements are their looks, level of attraction and status, then it follows that they would seek to be recognised for it.
who would give them the most rewarding feedback though, peers should carry more weight than peons.

                >by being unimpressed, or demanding more.
Depends. You could try but women-- not just actresses/celebs-- see through you. If you're authentic and there is some chemistry you could at least get laid.
The "neg" thing that PUAs mention has some merit to it but not in a calculated way: the women will sometimes notice some aspect of their looks more critically and that results in the paradox that they'll try to prove their attractiveness to you.
                >who would give them the most rewarding feedback though, peers should carry more weight than peons.
Not necessarily as the entertainment industry is teeming with homosexuals.

The subject is interesting to me as it was a type of learning experience that goes against expectations: actresses, models etc who are considered to be sex symbols don't feel that secure and deeply appreciate the fact that men feel attracted to them both as self-validation and a means to arousal.
Not in a simp way, but as an authentic display that you do think they're beautiful/attractive etc

if you scale up the need to be found attractive by suitors, or even in a pack of animals, then from their status the pack is millions, and they are relatively few - so they compete with their peers to attract the most potential suitors from the millions.

This isn't really a leak but I can tell you that I've heard a lot of suits talk about how they 100% plan on phasing out most writers for AI, especially after the bullshit the writers put everyone through with the strikes, though whether this is an actual goal they're going to implement over the next decade or just revenge fantasy grumbling, who can say, but knowing how greedy and spiteful the people running this industry are, likely the former.

Being the bulk of this site doesn't make a good board. The opposite typically as the cancer seeps to other boards. That's what makes /misc/ the worst this site has ever had since the cancer is particularly malignant and has spread to even smaller boards. Also /misc/ doesn't make memes, they've regurgitated jaks and frogs for years at this point

In the case of Prey, they were shills who worked in the movie because:
-the "better one yet since Predator" PR talking point was repeated over and over thread after thread
-criticism against it was met with detailed rants about filming conditions and how the ludicrous main character was a native of this or that tribe etc; TMI over and over again
-when someone pointed out how plasticky the Predator looked, there was this interminable reply about the local foliage conditions, how it was designed with a background that took into account the geographic/cultural, how it would look so much better onscreen yadda yadda
Mind you: none of this seemed orchestrated, just people who had skin in the game and perhaps already browsed Cinemaphile and sounded a bit too enthusiastic and in the know

                >using - and instead of > and saying others are shills who don't belong
wew lad. I personally think it's the best since Predator, all the criticisms I've seen about it are >le brown woman bad, and didn't think the Predator looked "plasticky" at all.
                >none of this seemed orchestrated, just people who had skin in the game and perhaps already browsed Cinemaphile and sounded a bit too enthusiastic and in the know
It's sad that knowledgable posters are met with such suspicion. Even sadder that I expect as much

No, but I wish I was. I'm an attorney and would love to work in the movie business instead. I'm sure you won't believe me, frankly I don't give a shit. Predator 2 and Predators are pretty good, I even like AvP but I really liked Prey.

I'm 100% not and I'm amazed you gays haven't figured it out yet

I can't think of what you're talking about due to the "costume/looked unrealistic". I know a lot of homosexuals here hate Prey and think any praise of that is shilling (I loved it) but it's an alien so not sure how that would apply. Scream's costumes also didn't seem bad to me though the nu-Screams have been the weakest in the franchise (no Sydney equals no Scream)

                >Prey

On one hand I feel like people who would need to defend themselves on here would not be the type to come here in the first place, because nobody could be that mentally ill and masochistic, right? but on the other hand I see liberals desperately astroturfing all over Cinemaphile constantly.
