There's another downside to resting for a decade, the ot rested for a decade and the fanbase grew up into a bunch Mike Stoklassas. So literally nothing would satisfy them.

The Prequels can be justified to explain all the backstory stuff, but the sequels have no reason to exist. You're writing after a "happily ever after". 500 year timeskip at least if you wanted to do something post OT. But even then, why? Why can't a timeless story just be left alone, and allowed to be timeless?

The only Disney Star Wars I recognize as canon is the 2017 Darth Vader comics and the Gilroy stuff (Catalyst/Andor/Rogue One) everything else is pure slop. The Thrawn Trilogy has more soul than any Filoniverse show
