I'll be honest, I actually liked Judgement Day.

Didn't everyone? Judgement day was cool.
As it was releasing, I remember Cinemaphile b***hing endlessly about how awful it was.
No way, doesn't sound like Anon to me.
I need a refresher on what even happened in it because I literally don't remember anything other then the cool moments when characters got their judgment from a celestial
eternals turn out to basically sentient automata, they meet a celestial and he tells them they were a tool to stabilize deviants while their genes "fixed" earth's poisoning (of celestial blood)
now that their job is done they aren't needed
this promptly causes the entire celestial race to flip the frick out. shenanigans ensue and one sleazy moron ends up in charge, he declares that the eternals must still follow their function and that mutants, the improved result of deviant influence, are still deviants who need to be corrected.
while they are in the process of fricking mutantkind in the ass and basically exterminating the species, avengers do a commando strike on their previous homebase, a celestial corpse, and build a new celestial from it.
This celestial promtly declares everyone to be a fricking moron and he will judge every single living thing on the earth to determine whether he shouldn't just delete the entire planet
then a lot of sanctimonious character moments happen, the celestial fricks off but not before giving making an eternal celestial-like and we are back to status quo.
oh and the x-office literally never recovered from this. all books after this event sucked.
Don't forget the running undercurrent of "civilians matter" where we're shown a bunch of sappy scenes about randos and how they're dealing with all the bullshit but we the readers know this is all bullshit and that in reality the NPC civilians DON'T matter and they'll all die horribly in some mass casualty event in the next big summer block buster crossover
For MCU Synergy, the Eternals got rebooted as tools of the Celestials to kill Deviants, both OG Deviants but also anything remotely "deviant" genetically. And a corrupt Eternal,Druig (IIRC) got made leader of the Eternal race.
Moira McTaggart, now a robot and with ORCHIS, convinces Druig to declare jihad on the X-Men, who's resurrection process has just been made public, and wipe them out. With Magneto being killed, made worse in that he and Storm destroyed their back-ups to get in good with the Martian Mutants so that he can't be resurrected after he dies.
The Avengers, living in a corpse of a dead Celestial, revive it because once Jihad is declared, it can't be revoked except by a Celestial. But the Celestial comes back wrong and declares all life on Earth needing to be wiped out after it judges humanity and humanity fails.
Avengers, Eternals, X-Men, and even Orchis team up to stop the Celestial, with the Celestial only being made to stop when Sersei and Thena sacrifice their lives. Druig is deposed and replaced by Starfox and the X-Men agree to use their resurrection tech on humans, but only darkies.
>X-Men agree to use their resurrection tech on humans, but only darkies.
Bruh
Aside from Civil War 2 & AVX most Marvel events aren't bad.
Fear Itself & Shadowland are really underrated & good.
Chaos War is decent (the Thor tie-in mini series was fully good)
Infinity is fully great.
Still fricking mad the Empyre Thor & Squadron Supreme mini series were canceled.
>Fear Itself & Shadowland are really underrated & good.
entertaining? yes
good? no
>Fear Itself & Shadowland are really underrated & good.
does anyone have the cyclops edit with the "turn off the punch dimension" line in it?
BEHOLD
the jean scream in the end gets me every time. i always hear the 90s cyclops yelling it
really hate how editing comic pages became a lost art
So how did the "out of control powers" thing with Cyke (and I think Mags? maybe others?) resolve?
IIRC Dark Beast (who was inserted into the story when Bendis was barred from using Ultimate Mysterio) dosed those X-Men with nanites that messed with their powers.
Which book?
That's a shitty Bendis/Deodato tie in Avengers issues not the main event which was drawn by Stuart Immonen.
Sorry senpai, after the messiah trilogy and the avengers trilogy fear itself was the blandest shit imaginable.
only decent thing it gave us is setting the path for journey into mystery and kid loki
>only decent thing it gave us
And great art.
And a great transformed design for Sin & The Thing.
And great Iron Man tie in issues.
And it being a CapThor centric story for once rather than the typical ThorTony focus.
And a good X-Force tie in with great art.
>typical ThorTony
CapTony I meant
>And great art.
bruh
Yes, Immonen's art during Fear Itself fantastic. He's like the perfect t Avengers artist. It's a cosmic joke that his prime art on the book was during such a shittybera of writers.
He did a guest issue during Busiek but his style was more photo realistic and not as fun.
What's wrong with Immonen's art?
it... boring. visually unappealing.
I need bigger butts
Civil War 2 had one of the strongest line up of tie-in books.
Fight me.
The Iron Man tie in issues to Fear Itself was also damn good.
Original Sin was ass.
>gorr was right
TRASH AARON
TRASH
Wasn't Original Sin supposed to just be a Thor storyline, like Fear Itself? Then editorial boosted both of them to be events.
I liked Uranos and his kaiju pokemon. I wish the main Eternals weren't so in the background. Shame Sersi had to die she is too obscure to get revived anytime soon
Avengers
X-Men
Eternals

yeah nobody gives a frick about eternals
Gillen's Eternals book was great and it's the whole reason Judgement Day happened.
yes it was, i enjoyed it myself
but the point of my post was in reply to the youtube video linked
What youtube video?
I wish Gillen got to introduce more of the new Eternals he made.
I liked that Alix YIIK died in it.
well yeah, it was a cool event AND it managed to handle the main concept of HiC well
I liked the event overall, but I thought the ending was weak and unsatisfying.
Sorry senpai, overdetailed realism does not cut it for me. busy for the sake of busy is just forgettable.
It's hilarious to me that twitter didn't jump down Gillen's throat for turning the Eternals into differerent races. This is exactly the kind of thing they kept flaming marvel for with Psylocke, the magical transformation of a white character into a black woman for example (Makkari)
But the truth is it never got picked up on because nobody read Eternals and the title was basically DOA. And now they're stuck with the stupid Captain Planet diversity squad that aren't even appearing in any comics.
never got called out because black women are nobody's sexual fetish and makkari was specifically drawn to look as the plainest 50 years old mom to ever exist
What gets me about events (especially at Marvel) is how they are so totally disposable. This thing is so mired in the exact status quo right now that only a couple years down the line it will be entirely incomprehensible to a reader who doesn't go back and look up where all the characters were at the time. In that way Starlin had it right, Infinity Gauntlet just kind of broadly gave the characters and then threw shit at them so they didn't make a plot point about what the frick was happening in individual titles. Which was a much better way of doing it because why even bother with an event if it isn't a good standalone story?
It was fine. That's all.
Also killing off the only noteworthy Eternal (Sersi) at the end was moronic
The Eternals were already gutted for MCU synergy, so it's not a loss. Hopefully someday they'll reboot them back to their Kirby selves. But given how nobody cares even with a major movie they may just stay dead.
It was fun. I wish we got more kino kaiju fights.
