The graphic novel can't be the OG because Kim mentions that Scott once fought an entire school for her, but the comics show that it's just how Scott remembers it, when actually he just beat up a weak b***h that was crushing on Kim at the time
It's not the movie either because the twins have a Robot, which is only from the comics. In the movie they're just twin DJs, not robotics experts.
It's absolutely a continuation to the graphic novel, not the movie. The in universe movie/musical is "Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life", the name of the first volume. The robot being the other major tell, since he's sidelined hard in the movie.
You can see it as that, but you can also see future Scott as an alternate version that exists just in this story. It's not really set in stone.

it started out pretty good, i liked the first 3 episodes or so even with the change but then it goes downhill and the future scott character is annoying, the writing just suffers from feeling too 2020-ish i guess and the music is generic shit that's in every Hollywood production. if it was going to be ramona centered the soundtrack should've been like, the cure, joy division, and deftones.

I liked that they created new relationships between the characters but didn’t like that Scott himself is an afterthought in his own series. He’s just the worst part of the show, they evolved all the characters so much that he’s left as this vermin sticking around.
I know people hated him in the comics and movie too, but because he’s the protagonist he obviously got a lot of stuff to develop, change and grow. In here they left him in the dirt but I’m still supposed to like him.
There had to be a way to make both Scott and everyone else equally well developed rather than picking some over others.

I do feel it's not my vibe of a series, but I know most people seem pissed that they had been waiting for another Scott adaptation for years especially comic accurate. Idk why studios get so dickhard today at tricking or making fun of fans then get surprised when fans get annoyed. Yeah internet/fan spergs will hate if they feel slighted that's just people in general. But especially if you've supported and wanted something for years and then they change everything or tell you they're giving you one thing and then do another. It's like asking for a steak and getting a burger, the burger is good but you had your mind on the higher quality steak now you'd be pissed and want some of your money back.
You weren't getting a comic accurate adaption with only 8 episodes a season. And by translating it to action, some scenes may take infinitely longer like the Shopping battle between Scott and Todd.
You couldn't fit Scott Pilgrim into 8 episodes, but you very easily could with 12.

Really I felt it'd need to at least be 20ish eps, as anon above said you'd have 3 volumes I feel each volume mixed with fights and just scene translations that's about 16-20 eps all together.
Is the show doing well? If it is, the team could do this again with a different AU. One where Scott is gay and Ramón is a hot Hispanic guy with hot (evil) bara exes. Please.
Honestly I really enjoyed this.
I love mysteries, so I found the idea of the Scott Pilgrim supporting cast solving a kidnapping mystery to be really fun. I thought everything to do with the movie set was so fricking funny too. My favorite part of Scott Pilgrim was the secondary cast's interactions and this series is an entire show about that and I love it. I couldn't care less about Scott himself, he already has a story and I read it.
Sequels disguised as remakes is my favorite new genre
The show giving us JulieXGideon and teasing KimX Lucas Lee made it worth it alone

Then again, it's possible the second "season" is already done, Netflix is doing that thing where it split an order up into two chunks, and the creators are talking about after THAT, or perhaps they're just trying to bait more people into watching it?
I'm sure it's one of those cases where they put it in just in case with no actual expectations for more. Netflix right now is killing all animation that isn't outsourced, even Big Mouth, so I wouldn't count on them doing more unless it's a gigantic hit.
