The gameplay is solid. It features more gameplay elements than previous 2D Castlevanias. The art, while not the best, is far from shit. Music is ok. Sound effects are nice. All considered, it's a fun game worth the money, and a really good break out first game for the Fledgling Iga, who had to make due with a less than great development team. Even having to remake much of the graphics partway through development.
Most people know it's good, that's why is sold more than 2 million copies. And the second game will be a large improvement over the first.

But if change is necessary for the adaptation, then something as small as making the eyes a little less dopey isn't a big deal. And what's wrong with a long neck? It's body diversity. Not everyone is going to have the same neck length. But if you want to homogenize that too, then so be it. it's a small change.

In what way does a race swap increase appeal? Think. Even if you could argue that the previous redesigns are equally as contentious as this new redesign(they aren't, but I'm just going to play along for a while), that won't change the fact that in the past she was always white. So if you change her race, at least a portion of people will not be fine with that change. It will always be a net loss in appeal. That is, unless you can make her new design *so cool*, that it wins people over, and offsets the race change.
But they also took away her sex appeal. So she also has to be cool enough to offset that loss too. It just doesn't add up. Let's say that the new redesign remained white and had a plunging neckline. That would retain the appeal of the old her, while also adding the appeal of the new her.

The gameplay is solid. It features more gameplay elements than previous 2D Castlevanias. The art, while not the best, is far from shit. Music is ok. Sound effects are nice. All considered, it's a fun game worth the money, and a really good break out first game for the Fledgling Iga, who had to make due with a less than great development team. Even having to remake much of the graphics partway through development.
Most people know it's good, that's why is sold more than 2 million copies. And the second game will be a large improvement over the first.

In what way does a race swap increase appeal? Think. Even if you could argue that the previous redesigns are equally as contentious as this new redesign(they aren't, but I'm just going to play along for a while), that won't change the fact that in the past she was always white. So if you change her race, at least a portion of people will not be fine with that change. It will always be a net loss in appeal. That is, unless you can make her new design *so cool*, that it wins people over, and offsets the race change.
But they also took away her sex appeal. So she also has to be cool enough to offset that loss too. It just doesn't add up. Let's say that the new redesign remained white and had a plunging neckline. That would retain the appeal of the old her, while also adding the appeal of the new her.
So why change race?
