Depends on the character and the actor. For instance, Daisy Ridley was a horrible choice for a lead actor in an action role. When is see tiny stick arms on a 4’11” child woman my brain can’t get past it and take the character seriously in combat scenes. The female protag should have to overcome her physical limitations and not be some badass heavyweight champion boxer in the movie. If there's one thing i can't relate to with the rest of Cinemaphile is the hatred for female protagonists. I love a movie with a nice female lead especially if it's Anya.
Depends on the character and the actor. For instance, Daisy Ridley was a horrible choice for a lead actor in an action role. When is see tiny stick arms on a 4’11” child woman my brain can’t get past it and take the character seriously in combat scenes. The female protag should have to overcome her physical limitations and not be some badass heavyweight champion boxer in the movie. If they showed Anya Taylor Joy body slam Hemsworth or something that would bug the shit out of me

Yeah and mad max was actually good because the only badass female in the movie was Furiosa and the only time she fought a man hand to hand it was against a recently concussed max who had just survived a massive car accident and had been half drained of his blood by nux and was still chained to his unconscious dead weight body which is why the fight wasn’t just him curb stomping her brains out in 75 seconds and then driving away. Whereas Star Wars was horrible and I was supposed to believe that a tiny girl could put fight Adam Driver on an equal footing. One example allows you to suspend disbelief while the other doesn’t

The whole cgi inexplicably looking worse thing happened with the Sin City movies too. The second was shot on a better camera with a bigger budget and yet from a photographic standpoint looks far inferior. Also I suspect our boy George is a little too old to be flipping cars in the desert for months on end like in Fury Road. I still think there will be practical stunts, but maybe half as much from the looks of it. We shall see I suppose.
